Saturday, December 25th:

It wasn't long before the two of them reached Josh's house, and when they got inside, it was complete anarchy.

A Nerf dart flew over Tyler's head as he walked in, and he hid behind Josh, peeking over his shoulder as Josh's siblings fired the fake guns at each other, screaming and laughing and running around. Tyler smiled at the scene, ducking to dodge another dart that came flying at him.

"If you would be so kind as to not hit my boyfriend, that would be great," Josh told them, his tone snarky, and the kids stopped playing. Jordan peeked out from around a corner.

"Wait, you two are dating?" he questioned, and both of them nodded. Tyler felt a little blush come onto his cheeks as Josh called him his boyfriend, feeling special. The kid shrugged.

"That's cool, I guess," he said, and then proceeded to shoot more darts at his siblings, reinstating the chaos. The loud laughter and madness ensued once more as they ran upstairs, leaving Tyler standing behind Josh, his hands on his shoulders.

"You're safe now," Josh told him, a little laugh on his breath. Tyler grinned, stepping out from behind Josh, taking his hand. When he looked up from their intertwined fingers, he found Josh's mom approaching them.

"Tyler, it's great to see you again," she greeted him, pulling him into a warm embrace. He hugged her back with his free arm, the other hand still holding Josh's, a little surprised at the gesture, but it felt good to be hugged like that. It brought a warm smile onto his face.

"You too," he said as they pulled out of their hug.

"And thanks for keeping an eye out for Josh. He's told me all of the stuff you've done for him, especially standing up to that boy. What was his name, again? Mark?"

"Maxx," Tyler offered, a little smile playing at his lips as he looked at Josh, who was looking a little embarrassed at his mom's words.

"Right. Him. Thank you for putting him in his place," Josh's mom said with a smile.

"Well, I'm not sure he'll ever really be better, but I did what I could," Tyler explained sheepishly, knowing that Maxx was not in his place. He was far off, but he didn't want to think about that. He didn't have to deal with Maxx for the whole break, and that was what mattered.

"In any case, thank you for trying."

Tyler returned her smile, although it was short lived, because the kids came rushing back down the stairs, causing Tyler to pull Josh in front of him slightly. They ran to the living room and around there, and while they were out of the way, Tyler and Josh made their way upstairs.

Once they got into his room, Josh shut the door behind them, and Tyler sat down on his bed.

"I'm sorry about the chaos," Josh apologized, looking sheepishly at Tyler. The younger boy shrugged.

"Don't worry about it. I like it here. It's very... lively."

Josh smiled at that, coming and sitting down next to his boyfriend. Tyler leaned his head against Josh's shoulder, feeling special and perfect and all other good things as the older boy pulled him closer.

"So, what do you wanna do?" Tyler asked, looking up at Josh with adoration.

"I'm not sure. We could watch Christmas movies," he suggested, and Tyler agreed, smiling at the idea. "I'll go make us some hot cocoa. I won't make you go through the warzone again, though, so you stay up here."

Tyler laughed a little at that, agreeing to stay upstairs and safe in his room as Josh got up, leaving after casting a little smile back at Tyler. The younger boy moved so that he was further on Josh's bed, his back resting against the pillows. He noticed that Josh didn't have a television in his room, and he assumed that they'd be watching the movies on his laptop.

Josh came up shortly after, handing Tyler a mug of hot chocolate, topped with whipped cream. It also had a candy cane sticking out of it, and Tyler pulled it out, sucking on it as he smiled at Josh.

"This is so fancy," he commented, a grin on his face.

"Only the best for you," Josh told him, making him blush as Josh kissed his cheek.

"You truly spoil me, Joshua Dun," Tyler joked, and Josh grinned, setting his drink on the bedside table before wrapping his arms around Tyler's waist. Tyler's arm went around his shoulders as Josh cuddled into his side, and Tyler sighed contentedly.

"This is perfect. You're perfect," he said, pressing a kiss to Josh's head.

"Y'know what would make it more perfect?" he asked.

"What?"

"If we put on a Christmas movie!" Josh exclaimed, momentarily leaving Tyler's side to grab his laptop, setting it up before cuddling up against him again. "What do you wanna watch?"

The two decided on Elf, and they watched the movie together, cuddled up and sipping their hot chocolate. Tyler was convinced that the moment couldn't get any more serene, and he pulled Josh a little closer to him, never wanting to let go.

Tyler was feeling so comfortable in Josh's bed with the other boy pressed against him, and he started to doze off, his head leaning against the top of Josh's. He had seen the movie a million times before, so it wasn't like he was missing anything, either. He closed his eyes, telling himself that he was just going to shut them for a moment, just to enjoy how it felt to have Josh this close to him. However, he ended up falling asleep, his arm wrapped tightly and securely around Josh even as he began to drift off...

When he woke up, he discovered that Josh had fallen asleep during the movie, too. The laptop still sat in front of them, the screen black, and Tyler reached forward with his arm that wasn't wrapped around Josh, shutting it and setting it to the side. As he looked down, he discovered that Josh was still asleep, and the sight made him smile. The other boy looked so peaceful, and it filled Tyler's heart with joy.

When he looked at the time, he discovered that it was eleven at night. He knew that he should go home, and that his family might be angry if they discovered that he'd never gone home in the first place. However, he also knew that they'd likely not check his room, and that they'd probably never notice his absence.

That's why he let himself cuddle back up to Josh, letting himself fall asleep again, loving how close he was to the other boy.
