Friday, December 31st:
Josh was excited, to say the least.
He was foregoing his usual plans for New Year's Eve, and instead he was going to spend the night with Tyler. Typically, it was just spent with his family, and he loved that, but he was beyond excited to spend it with his boyfriend.
They were planning on going over to Tyler's house, as his family would be out. They wanted to spend the night eating takeout and just enjoying each other's company. Josh couldn't wait.
The day leading up to hanging out with Tyler felt like an eternity, and he waited impatiently, half-jokingly wondering what the other would do if he decided to show up at his house early. Unfortunately, he knew he couldn't, as Tyler's family was still home, and that seemed like a supremely bad idea. They obviously didn't know the two were together, and they didn't know Josh would be spending the night at their house. They didn't want to rouse any suspicion, and therefore they agreed to have him wait. So he did. Very impatiently.
He was boredly sitting there, playing video games with Jordan, when his phone buzzed. When he glanced at it, just to see who it was, he saw it was from Tyler, and he dropped everything to look at it. He earned groans of annoyance from Jordan, but he ignored his little brother, focusing on the text.
'Hey, love!' it read. 'Bring a swimsuit for tonight.'
Josh smiled at that, his excitement growing when he remembered the fact that they had a pool and hot tub in their backyard, and he couldn't wait to go in with Tyler.
'Okay! Can't wait :)'
'Me neither!' Tyler replied. 'My family should be gone soon. I'll text you the moment they leave.'
'Got it. I'm so excited to see you.'
'You saw me yesterday, dork.' As Josh read that, he grinned, knowing Tyler was right, but he couldn't help but miss him.
'It's a crime that it's been that long.'
He could basically feel the fact that Tyler was rolling his eyes, a smile on his face.
'You're ridiculous.' The response made Josh smile even more. 'I'll see you soon!'
Josh put his phone down, a large, giddy smile on his face. His head was swimming with everything he and Tyler could do, and just how nice it would be to spend the night with the younger boy.
"Ugh, you're so whipped," Jordan commented, and Josh turned to look at him, having forgotten he was even there.
"Shut up and keep playing," Josh told him, his smile remaining on his face as he picked his controller back up, barely being able to wait for the text from Tyler that said he could come over.
-
It was a few hours later that he finally got the okay to come over, and he rushed to get to his car, yelling quick goodbyes to his family as he went out the door. He was quick to get to Tyler's house, and he raised his hand to knock when the door opened, Tyler standing on the other side with a large smile on his face.
It made Josh smile even more that Tyler had been waiting by the door, knowing he was just as eager to hang out as Josh was. It made him even more giddy, even more excited for the night to come. He stepped inside, and Tyler shut the door behind him, pulling him in for a kiss once the door was closed.
Josh smiled as they pulled away.
"Hello to you, too," he joked, and Tyler grinned.
"I may have missed you, too," he admitted with a little laugh, his hands falling around Josh's waist. It made Josh smile even more.
"Not so ridiculous anymore, is it?" he questioned, and Tyler laughed again.
"Shut up," he said with a giggle. "C'mon, let's order some food. I'm starving."
He gave Josh a quick kiss on the cheek before taking his hands off of him, and Josh's head spun with sheer happiness. He followed Tyler into the living room, and they plopped down on the couch, trying to decide what to order. Eventually, they settled on food from multiple places, and just waited for it to arrive. In the meantime, they went up to Tyler's room, and engaged themselves in yet another heated match of Super Smash Bros.
They paused once they heard the doorbell ring, and they left to answer it, getting their food and setting it up in the kitchen. Once all of it had arrived, they grabbed plates and went outside, deciding to eat out there.
It was a little cold, with snow still on the ground, but it was largely pleasant as they sat there, sitting on a couch that looked out on the pool. They sat close to each other, the sides of their legs pressed together. It was killing Josh not to touch Tyler more, but he refrained while they were still eating. Still, he ate fast so that he could be finished sooner, and waited for Tyler to finish. Once he did and he set his plate aside, Josh wrapped his arms around him, pulling him even closer, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
"What was that for?" Tyler asked, a little laugh on his breath as he wrapped his arms around Josh as well.
"You're just irresistible. I can't help it."
Tyler rolled his eyes at that, a grin on his face. "I'm not sure about that."
"I am," Josh told him, pressing a quick kiss to his lips. He pulled Tyler even closer, burying his face in his neck, laying soft kisses on his skin. He could feel Tyler shiver slightly under his touch, and it made him smile. He felt Tyler's arms tighten around him, pulling him even closer, and the feeling made Josh sigh with contentment.
They stayed like that for a few moments. They didn't speak, they just held each other. Both of them forgot about the cold air, feeling plenty warm as they held each other close. It was perfect.
