Time of Uncertainty

Ahmed comes to his office in the morning, still contemplating the decision to let Hadi escape, because nothing has come through yet. The execution is in 2 hours. He feels defeated despite so many efforts by him and Hamza to save Hadi. He thinks, maybe God doesn't want to save him. Maybe this is what his destiny is.

Some time later, there is a knock on the door of his office and Ahmed realises he had been sitting in the same place, thinking the things he could've done to save him over and over again.

"Sir it's time for briefing." The constable says.

"Huh?"

"Mir Hadi, sir."

Ahmed checks his watch and realises 1 hour had already passed. The briefing for execution starts 1 hour prior.

"Theek hai, I'll be there in 2 minutes." Ahmed says and runs back to his table to grab his phone.

He calls Momina to let her know that 1 hour remains and briefing has started.

Momina cuts Ahmed's call and looks over at Hamza who started drinking as soon as he woke up.

Hadi's mother had collapsed in the middle of the night so Mir Shah is with her in the hospital.

Momina calls the IG who had initially arrested Mir Hadi.

"Hello?"

"Assalam walaikum IG saab. Main Momina, industrialist Bashir Eman Malik ki beti."

"Ji walaikum Salam?"

"Aapne news nahi dekhi kya aaj?"

"Kya matlab?"

"Mir Hadi ke baare mein news?"

"Ji uska aapse kya talluq?"

"Let's just say I'm his good friend. Aur aaj woh puri aawam ke samne begunaah sabit ho chuka hai, fir bhi aap log uskey execution ki preparation kar rahe hain."

"Execution sentence can't be reversed Ms. Malik. I hope you know that."

"Ji, I do. In fact I also know there is zero time left to save him. Maine aapko ussey bachane ke liye call nahi kiya. Balke yeh batane ke liye kiya hai, ke public backlash ke liye tayiar rahiyega. Aapne hi Hadi ko arrest karne ke orders diye the na, oh I forgot aap toh khud uskey ghar aaye the ussey apne haathon arrest karne ke liye. How will the public react when they know they have an incompetent IG who works for Qasim Khan's party?"

"How dare you threaten an officer's credibility?! I don't work for him!"

"Sure, tell that to the public IG saab. I hope you want to retire with your public image intact." Momina says and cuts the call.

IG understood exactly where Momina was coming from. He knows if this execution goes through, his image will be shattered and he will never even retire, he will have to resign as public will be enraged to think that he was bribed by Qasim Khan and works for him, whereas it was only an error in his investigation since everything pointed to Mir Hadi. On the other side, he knows Mir Shah will do everything in his power to ruin him and his family, let alone smash the perfect image of  best IG officer to pieces.

He calls the police station to know Hadi's execution time. It's in 45 minutes from now and the briefing had already started.

Hadi is not allowed to meet anyone now except police officials.

As Detective Ahmed makes an effort to get his defeated self through the briefing, he hears commotion outside. He goes out in the front to find a big group of people shouting with banners that are insulting the justice system. The police constables are holding them outside the gate. He sees Sanam is already inside and is begging the inspector to let her see Hadi.
