Sorryyyy for the delay, have some filth and bromance to make up for it <3 This is actually my favorite chapter I've written I think
When Sophie was just seven years old, she would often dream of the day she would marry a handsome prince and ride off into the sunset, just leave behind her awful parents and never look back. The prince charming in her vision was typically Finn, the only person she had ever felt fully safe around. They would live happily ever after together, far away from cruel parents and mean classmates, in a large castle filled with animals and sweets.
As Sophie stared at Finn across the room, fidgeting with his camera before Jess's wedding, she thought about how much that dream had changed. She had somehow found four prince charmings, which was three more than she had ever predicted. Four amazing men that she simply could not and would not live without. They were hers, and she was theirs.
She studied her best friend's features from afar, admiring the way his brows scrunched when he concentrated. He was undeniably attractive and constantly had her heart spasming. He was clad in dark pants and a black button-up shirt rolled up to his elbows, revealing his delicious, muscular, tattooed arms. The sight of them brought impure thoughts to Sophie's brain, but she quickly shook them away, determined to focus on the wedding. As if he could sense her ogling, Finn gave his usual devilish smirk and held the camera to his eye, snapping a not-so-candid picture of Sophie. She giggled and made a silly face before turning to find the others.
Sophie frowned as she found Victor sitting at a table off in the corner of the reception hall. His leg bounced anxiously as his gaze went to the bar. She hoped he would be okay being around so much alcohol. She would have to do a check-in with him later that day. She was so proud of how far he had come and of all the work he was doing at the community center to make it a safe space for kids. Her heart clenched as she looked at him. He was wearing a deep burgundy button-up that accentuated his dark features, and Sophie felt herself nearly drool.
Theo was fitting in quite well with the equipment crew, helping them with any issues that arose. He was deep in his element. Sophie admired him traipsing from one area of the room to the next in his forest green button-up. She loved how brilliant his brain was. He often sold himself short, though, and it made her want to tackle him with kisses until he loved himself as much as she loved him.
She scoured the beautifully decorated room for her final prince charming, but frowned when she didn't find him. She set aside the tablet that she was checking tasks off on and approached Finn. "Have you seen Chase?"
"I think I saw him step outside a few minutes ago." He resumed playing with his camera.
Sophie sighed and stepped outside, looking for Chase. She felt odd when she wasn't around all of them, like her body and soul were imbalanced."Just leave me alone. I have nothing to say to either of you." Sophie inhaled sharply as she found Chase on the steps in front of the venue in a navy blue button-up, speaking to someone harshly on the phone. He hung up and sighed, burying his head in his hands. Sophie frowned and took a seat next to him. She remained silent, letting him speak only when he was ready. "How much did you hear?"
"Just the last little bit."
He nodded and let out a humorless laugh. "Well, the film competition totally failed, but at least I can always rely on my warm, fuzzy parents for comfort."
Sophie rubbed a comforting hand across his back, unsure of what to say. "I'm sorry, Chase."
He just took a deep breath and stared into nothingness. "I wish I could get them to listen to me for once, like fully listen to me. Sometimes... Sometimes, I imagine I have real parents out there somewhere and that these awful people who raised me are just aliens who abducted me." He chuckled, and Sophie gave a small smile. "What do you think it's like to have loving parents?"
