"We have proof, it's on video," Bobby confirmed.
"You are a fucking idiot, man," Ryan scoffed, laughing. "No, I hope you make a better pitcher than you do a detective. I walked off with him because we were getting Addies. That's why Scott was there, I was just bro'ing up with him, 'cause I needed another hookup."
As Ryan spoke, Scuba tried to take my hand and lead me away but I stood in my spot. "Adderall?" Bobby asked.
"'Adderall'," Ryan scoffed, "Yes Adderall. That's what the smart kids do so we can get into Ivy League schools and guys like you can tow our Porsches."
Even I was taken aback by this. What had gotten into Ryan?
Bobby slapped Ryan's hand away, paused, then shoved him. "Bitch!"
"Yo, what the fuck!" Ryan scoffed, lunging toward him. Newman held Bobby back as I grabbed Ryan's hand.
"Hey! Go home, both of you! And stay the fuck away from the parade tomorrow. I see either one of you on the street I'm gonna haul you both in!" Newman spat.
"This isn't done!" Bobby yelled.
"Hey!" I yelled, grabbing everyone's attention as they both tried to reason with me. "Everybody shut the fuck up! Bobby, I don't know what the fuck is wrong with you. Leave, show up and pretend you know shit, huh? You're not doing any good more than harm. Nobody fucking wants you here! You wanna help, leave confrontation to the people who know how to read the damn room. Seriously, and that's coming from me!"
Then, I turned to Ryan. "Ryan, I don't know what's going through your dumbnut cranium up there, but that was a cunt move. He threw the first punch, but you threw the first insult. So, yes, you are the bad guy here. Second off, if you're still on Adderall there's a lot of fucking talking we have to do. So, both of you are assholes. My friends are still in there! They could be dead! And you two can't put your bullshit aside! Bobby, go. I don't wanna see your ass again. Ryan," I slammed his keys into his chest, "Take me home. Now."
"Yeah," Ryan nodded.
"Fawn," Jess began.
"Stop," I cut her off, shaking my head. Ryan took my hand and I led him to his car. She opened the passenger, buckling me in before climbing around and getting in the driver's himself.
He didn't say anything as he pulled us away from the school. "I'm sorry," he finally spoke up.
"Thank you. But not right now," I shook my head.
"I don't. Not anymore. But that's where I was that night," Ryan reasoned. I didn't really have a reason to suspect him for lying.
"Good. Thank you for being honest unlike literally everyone else," I spoke fully. She placed a large hand on my thigh, squeezing gently.
"I'm not a murderer. Unlike what he thought, I guess."
"I never thought you were. I still thought it was suspicious, but I knew it wasn't you," I reasoned.
"Want some food? I can stop by somewhere. That's actually what I was on the way to when Jess called me. I'm sorry about Evan and Gab. I was never close with them like you were, but..."
"They'll be okay. And, food sounds great." Ryan smiled and headed straight instead of turning toward the house.
