Risa let out an exclamation of surprise and annoyance, frustrated by the unexpected action. "Ano ba 'yan, ga!" she demanded, her voice laced with irritation.
Leni let out a chuckle and took out her handkerchief in her pocket. "Oh, tignan mo. Magagalit ka kapag sa'yo ginawa."
"Nakakainis ka kasi," she said, rolling her eyes, though a hint of a smile tugged at the corners of her lips. She took the handkerchief from Leni's hand and wiped the ice cream off her cheek.
Still laughing, Leni spoke. "Ubusin mo na 'yan. 'Di ba may gagawin ka pa? May hearing pa kayo mamaya ni Sen. Gatchalian."
Risa's head nodded in confirmation, and then her expression shifted to a frown. "Are you heading home before the hearing?"
"Yes," A smile formed on the shorter woman's lips. "I promised the kids I would have lunch with them."
"Then I won't hold you any longer." Risa reached out to adjust the collar of Leni's shirt, her touch lingering for a moment longer than necessary. "Mga 10:30 ka na umalis. Also, tell the kids I said hello."
"But the hearing starts at 10, right? Wala rin akong kasama dito sa office mo.."
Risa gave a soft sigh as she encircled her arm around Leni's waist, resting her chin on her shoulder with a hint of mock annoyance. "Akala ko hindi mo alam eh."
Leni teased with a playful smile, "You won't get away with it, Senator Risa. Baka mamaya ma-late ka pa sa hearing niyo kasi hindi pa 'ko umaalis."
Risa pouted, her tone a mix of longing and playful petulance as she spoke. "If only I could keep you here at the office with me, we could just stay here. We'll be busy in the coming days.. tapos hindi nanaman tayo magkikita." She continued to eat the ice cream.
Leni turned to the senator and placed her hands on Risa's face, her touch tender and comforting. "Don't worry, 'ga," she reassured. "I'll make sure to have time to visit you here at your office, kahit saglit lang."
"Hindi ka ba mapapagod niyan magpabalik-balik, 'ga?"
"Paano ako mapapagod kung ikaw naman ang makikita at sasalubong saakin tuwing pupunta ako dito?" Leni raised a brow. "Sa ganda mong 'yan?"
Risa slightly smacked Leni's shoulder. "Bolera ka talaga kahit kailan, Leonor.. but fine, tatanggapin ko 'yan."
Leni chuckled softly, and then she leaned closer to the senator, closing her eyes as their lips met in a gentle and tender kiss. Risa responded by placing her free hand on Leni's shoulder, her fingers gently curling as their lips continued to move in a perfect rhythm, a harmony of shared affection and connection. The kiss continued for a minute, a moment of intimate connection, their lips locked in a silent embrace. But then..
"Oh my.." Risa immediately parted, surprised, as she felt the cool liquid on her hand, and she parted to see the melted ice cream dripping from her hand. That unexpected sight made both women burst into laughter.
"That's a sign, ubusin mo na talaga 'yan."
Risa chuckled. "I really need to finish it now.."
