I glanced around, completely lost. My partner for the night had just been whisked away right in front of me, and I didn't know a single other person here. Uuugh, what a stupid idea... I already regretted coming.
I checked my phone: 10:54 PM. It was still so early... I was going to have to endure this. And I hate that.
Might as well find the bathroom and freshen up. Kate had almost killed me earlier. I love her with all my heart, but damn, she can be so dumb sometimes. "He looks like Billie Eilish's brother." Just thinking about it made me burst out laughing.
After a minute of weaving through the crowd, I finally reached the bathroom door. Three girls were already there, waiting their turn. I leaned against the wall to wait and, out of habit, pulled out my phone.
I unlocked the screen and opened Instagram. And that's when I saw it. His face popped up on my feed again :

billie eilish : gimme kissOH WOW, FUCK
Okay, I hate to admit it, but this girl is hot. Like, seriously. If I were a guy, I'd totally fight someone for her
Speaking of her, I still haven't seen her. This is supposed to be her party, right? Isn't she supposed to be the center of attention or something?
The bathroom door suddenly swung open, snapping me out of my thoughts. One of the girls in front of me gave me a polite smile as she held the door open. I returned a quick smile before stepping in. Finally, a moment of peace, away from all this chaos.
I let out a sigh. The music, muffled by the bathroom walls, felt a little further away. I splashed my face with water, the coolness easing the heat that had taken over me. I adjusted my outfit in the mirror, took a deep breath, and straightened up. Alright, it was time to dive back into this mess. Hopefully, by now, Kate had let go of her new crush.
When I stepped out, I noticed the vibe had shifted. The night was getting wilder. The lights were dimming one by one, replaced by colorful spotlights. The crowd had gathered in the center of the house, forming a little group of people bouncing to Meet me Halfway.
I scanned the room, still no sign of Kate. Great. She's probably in a room with Kole, at least one of us is having a good time tonight.
But that thought quickly faded when I spotted Kole a few meters away. And he wasn't with Kate. He was leaning against a wall, talking to another girl.
I marched over to him, pushing through the crowd. I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention, making him jump slightly.
"You're not with Kate anymore?"
He slowly turned his head toward me, a drunken grin spreading across his face.
"Your friend? Oh yeah... She went off to look for you, I think."
"You think?!" I repeated, annoyed. I turned and started walking away.
There was no way I was going to find her in this mess. The faces around me were blurring more and more with the dim lighting and the hustle.
I started making my way across the dance floor, getting grabbed by random hands every two seconds. People wanted to dance, laugh, pull me into their energy. What should have been a quick walk turned into a fucking twenty-minute ordeal. I couldn't help but smile between sighs, even drinking from one or two glasses along the way, always the ones from the girls, ofc.
(a/n: always watch ur drinks guys, this shit's no joke)
When I finally broke free from the crowd, I was back at square one. Still no sign of Kate. She probably thinks I'm actually sick from choking on all this crap, or that I isolated myself in some quiet room.
I made my way down the hallway, dodging groups and couples too busy sucking face to notice me.
I opened the first door on the left. Bad idea. I locked eyes with a completely naked guy. I slammed the door shut as fast as I could, my face burning with embarrassment. I'm never going to recover from that.
Second door. Empty. My hope was starting to fade. Kate might be gone forever.
I got to the third door. My hand hesitated on the handle, but before I could open it, the door creaked open by itself... well, not really...
Standing in front of me was someone I never would have imagined seeing here.
"Skeet?!"
His eyes widened, just as surprised as I was.
"Dina?!"
Before I could say anything, a softer yet confident voice rose behind him.
"Dina, what the hell are you doing here?"
I tried to make out the person in the dark. Skeet, huge as ever, was blocking most of the view. I leaned slightly to the side.
And that's when I saw her at the back of the room, my heart skipping a beat.
"Billie?!"
