The house is in chaos, especially the kitchen. Fadeela had slept over at Mahreen's to help with the preparations. Asad was sending his elders today to formally ask for Mahreen's hand in marriage. Umma was bustling in the kitchen, sending out orders while the aroma of delicious food filled the air. They had prepared an abundance of snacks, desserts, and drinks ,someone might mistake today's event for a wedding. They finished cooking around 12 PM and then set about cleaning the house, burning turaren wuta everywhere, especially in Abba's parlor where Asad's elders would stay for the formalities. Abba had called his brothers and a few cousins to join in the celebration.
After the Dhuhr prayer, the elders arrived, bringing with them lots of dates, kolanut, and sweets. They exchanged warm greetings, and then Abba, with a twinkle in his eye, asked them if they were ready to tie the knot, surprising everyone in the sitting room. They called Asad on the phone to confirm his readiness, and he affirmed with a loud, enthusiastic, "YES!" His elders suggested they check with Mahreen to see if she was ready too, but Abba chuckled and said, "If he is, then definitely she is."
They proceeded with the necessary procedures, and Asad and Mahreen were pronounced husband and wife.
"Andaura auren Asad Muhammad Baaso da Mahreen Usman Abdullah, a sadakin naira dubu dari biyar lakadan ba ajalan ba," the officiant declared, while ya Ahmad captured the whole process on video.
However, Mahreen was not at home during all this excitement, she had gone to the salon to wash her hair. As soon as she stepped back into the house, the yodeling, bustling, and shouts of "Amarya" from the older folks filled her ears, leaving her bewildered. She wondered when everyone had arrived since the last she knew, this was just supposed to be a formality not a wedding.
Fadeela quickly rushed outside and enveloped her in a tight hug.
"Congratulations, sister-in-law, You're stuck with my brother forever, meaning you're already my brother's wife!" Fadeela exclaimed, adding more force to the embrace.
Mahreen quickly pulled out and started talking, "You dey ment which wife? Fiancée dei"
Fadeela quickly pulled her inside and took her to Umma's room.
"Amaryar Asad, you're all grown up my baby girl, so proud of the woman you're becoming. Allah yabaku zaman lafiya da zuria dayyaba," Umma said, drawing her into a hug.
"Umma, I don't understand, I'm not married," she poured out.
Just then, Ya Ahmad came into the room and played the daurin aure video for her. "Congratulations, sis," he added.
Mahreen felt a wave of emotions, tears brimming in her eyes, she didn't know how to feel at that moment. She just felt numb, she had so much planned for her wedding. But she remembered her mother's words,
"Marriage is time, when your time comes, you can't escape it." She felt a little lighter and said, "Amin Umma, thank you, ya Ahmad and Fadeela."
Fadeela wiped her tears and hugged Mahreen again. Umma and Ya Ahmad joined the duo, and Mahreen felt at home in the arms of her favorite people.
"Ya Asad is on his way quickly take a bath and wear this laffaya. I ordered it earlier for you, as if I knew about Abba's plans," Fadeela said excitedly.
Mahreen and Fadeela went to Mahreen's room to help her dress up. The deep red laffaya really complimented her skin, she wore her gold jewelry necklace, bangles, rings, and earrings which were gifted to her by Umma. She lined her eyes with kohl and added blood-red lipstick to her lips, adding a beautiful touch to her face. With one last look at the mirror, she sighed, saying every dhikr that came to her lips. Fadeela helped her with her shoes, and it's a cute Gold jimmy choo flats. Mahreen is really the definition of beauty,to top it all red is her color it's compliments her so well .
Asad and a few of his friends were already downstairs waiting for his wife, Mahreen. It still feels surreal to him how they met in the span of a month and got married,it's an amazing feeling for him. He didn't experience this level of happiness in his first marriage.
Mahreen quickly rubbed on some oil perfume and sprayed her favorite scent. Fadeela held her hand, and they went downstairs to Abba's parlor where Asad was waiting. She couldn't lift her eyes up, feeling an unexpected shyness wash over her. She had promised herself to shake her husband's hand as soon as she saw him,but she doesn't think she can at the moment.
"Didn't you say you would shake your husband's hand immediately you see him? Why are you still standing here?" Fadeela whispered teasingly in her ear. Mahreen pinched her hand playfully, causing Fadeela to yelp softly.
Asad was still in awe of the goddess standing before him, he couldn't believe she was his wife, his halal. He gently walked toward her, and his intoxicating scent enveloped her senses. "Damn," she whispered, raising her head to meet his gaze. "Hey wifey, you look extremely gorgeous I'm losing my breath wallah," he whispered in her ear, taking her hands in his.
A wave of goosebumps surged through her, and butterflies danced in her tummy. She never thought she would feel this way in her entire 20 years of life. She finally decided to meet his eyes and check him out. He was wearing an ash babban riga and a maroon dara cap that surprisingly matched her laffaya. Her breath hitched because the man in front of her<this handsome, bulky demon was her husband . She had to pinch herself to confirm that this was real life, not a dream. She quickly stepped back, raised her hands, and shook his soft, huge ones. "Awwwnnnnn," the girls chorused, with Fadeela's voice topping theirs all. Mahreen totally forgot there were people around, she was lost in Asad's world.
Asad pleaded with the crowd to step out and give them a moment to talk, and everyone quietly obliged, allowing the newlyweds their privacy. Without hesitation, Asad drew her into a hug, sniffing her neck and letting out a relaxing sigh. Mahreen closed her eyes and melted into his arms, inhaling his intoxicating scent. She wondered how someone could smell this good and thought about how much she would love to wear his perfume. He finally pulled away from the hug and called her name. "Mahreen," he said, and she raised her head. "Are you happy?" he genuinely asked.
"I don't know how I feel at the moment, but I promise you I don't regret accepting your proposal yesterday. I'm glad you're my husband today," she replied.
He quickly merged his lips with hers in a soft, warm, and gentle kiss, something he had been wanting to do forever. She returned the kiss but quickly pulled away as it began to heat up. "I'm sorry, I just couldn't help it, you're so beautiful," Asad apologized.
"It's totally fine, wallah. I'm your wife, just shut up," she said, smiling.
"Okay, my wife," he emphasized the word 'wife.'
"I'm so happy Mahreen thank you so much for giving us a chance, insha Allah I'll be the best husband and I'll love and care for you always. He said drawing her into a hug again.
Guess I went missing again🤭 sorry. My life is in total chaos, I'm so so busy atm. Thank you so much for sticking by
