He kissed her forehead softly in response , a tender gesture that lingered in the air, and walked her to her room.
"Do you like your room?" he asked, his voice warm as he opened the door widely, revealing the cozy space inside.
"I love it! It's exactly how I imagined it. Thank you so much," she said, her eyes sparkling with joy as she hugged him tightly.
"Okay, mine is just around the corner. You should get some rest. If you need anything, don't hesitate to call me. Have a wonderful night," he said, drawing her closer, his lips brushing against her forehead in a gentle kiss.
"I can't sleep alone in this room," Mahreen said suddenly, looking up at him with a hint of vulnerability in her eyes.
"Why? Are you scared?" he teased, a playful smile dancing on his lips.
"No, I'm not," she replied, her gaze dropping to her feet, a blush creeping onto her cheeks.
"Yes, you are."
"No, I'm not."
"Yes, you are."
"Okay, okay, I am. But the bed is big enough for both of us," she said, pulling him inside with a determined grin.
"Mahreen, are you sure?" he asked, his tone turning sincere, searching her eyes for reassurance.
"Trust me, I am. It's just sleep, after all; nothing out of the ordinary," she rambled, her heart racing at the thought of sharing the space with him.
"Okay, go on. Let me brush my teeth," he said, a smile lingering on his lips as he stepped out of the room, leaving her with a flutter of excitement in her chest.
Mahreen walked into her bathroom, her reflection glowing softly in the warm light as she brushed her teeth and performed ablution, a ritual she had embraced a few years ago. After finishing, she emerged, shedding her jilbab and tying her hair up in a messy ponytail. The tousled strands framed her face perfectly, highlighting her delicate features. She spritzed a little perfume, a nightly ritual that made her feel confident and fresh, just a girl who loved to smell good all the time.
Asad walked in, dressed casually in ash sweatpants and a crisp white shirt. His breath caught in his throat when he saw Mahreen; the way her hair danced around her mid back and the oversized pajamas making her look even smaller and cute compared to his size. Her natural beauty shone through, her skin glowing and her eyes sparkling.
She was completely unaware of his presence until she rose from her vanity seat, a soft smile playing on her lips.
"You're still not in bed, Mahreen. Aren't you tired, or are you still scared?" Asad asked, a teasing glint in his eyes as he admired her effortless charm.
"I'll be right there, I just brushed my teeth too," she replied, flashing a radiant smile that showcased her freshly cleaned teeth, making her look even more enchanting in the soft light of the room.
They strode to the bed, and Mahreen took the right side, urging him to take the left because the right side had a socket, and she couldn't deny herself that privilege.
They quietly slipped under the sheets, Mahreen's heart pounding and her hands visibly shaking. She felt a little nervous, but she trusted Asad, even though she hadn't known him for long, after all, he was Fadeela's brother.
"Mahreen, calm down, please. I'm your husband, and I promise you nothing will happen without your consent," Asad pleaded, concern etched on his face.
"Okay," she whispered.
She quietly moved closer to him, and he instinctively drew her in, cuddling her while inhaling the sweet scent of her hair. This tiny girl had no idea what she was doing to his mind, he knew he wasn't in love yet, but he was falling for her, and it was deep.
