Today is Thursday! It's my henna party (sa lalle) and also Umma's forced Walima. You can imagine how tiring and long today will be for me, but I can't contain my excitement. All my outfits are ready. Fadeela escorted me for fittings the other day. Wear.Thawb went all out on my dresses , honestly couldn't hold back my excitement when I tried them on; they fit my figure perfectly, and Fadeela kept gushing about it.

The designer is the nicest person I've ever come across. We clicked instantly and became friends, and I've already invited her to the party by giving her a free asoebi.

I woke up quite early because I know how Umma and Fadeela can be. I did my red traditional henna the night before, and today I'm going for the chilly red. I finally found a henna artist I hired from Kaduna, and I love her designs!!! They're typically not the usual Nigerian styles guys, she does it the Indian way, just like Asad tells me he likes it. And guess who the artist is? None other than Henna by Ruqayyatuu! I feel so lucky, and I just hope today turns out great.

Fadeela will handle the decor and make sure everything is perfect. The party will take place right outside in our compound when we come back from the Walima. Umma went all out for that Walima. I can't believe she rented a hall and everything behind my back after promising to keep it small. Anyway, I'm not wearing makeup for that. Asad said I don't need it, and we have a photoshoot to do, so he doesn't really like makeup.

I finally went into my ensuite and took my time in the bathroom. I love how my body smells so nice and how soft and smooth my skin is. I can't believe I went through all the gyaran jiki torture because of a man,he better appreciate it and show me he loves it! All these freaky thoughts are sending shivers down my spine and scaring me, lol.

I came out of the bathroom and found Fadeela waiting for me in her outfit.

"Girl, last time I checked, you didn't sleep here. Why are you here so early?" Mahreen asked, hands on her waist.

"C'mon, start getting ready, abeg! I'm here to make sure you look stunning and breathtaking for this Walima since you don't like it," Fadeela said, zipping up her dress.

"Okay then, come and start your job. Rub this lotion on my feet, I can't reach because my back hurts. I just hope these cramps won't spoil the rest of the day for me," Mahreen whined.

"I have a painkiller in my bag. You're definitely taking it because, insha Allah, nothing will go wrong today. I'll make sure you're okay, and you should pray too," Fadeela said, concerned.

"Okay, insha Allah," Mahreen breathed out.

Fadeela helped Mahreen into her dress, a fitted sea green lace adorned with touches of red, intricate sequins, and beadwork. The dress perfectly accentuated her figure, featuring flowing sleeves and a train that cascaded behind her, adding a regal touch to the gown. She wore the gold set Asad had gifted her for lefe. The gele artist Fadeela brought with her tied both Mahreen's and Fadeela's gele. Mahreen applied kohl, powder, and a touch of lip gloss.

Before they were done, it was already time for the Walima, and the cars were waiting outside. The event center was beautifully decorated, and the occasion unfolded with lots of sermons, food, fun, and tears. Umma looked stunning in her purple lace and asooke.

Asad arrived to pick Mahreen up from the event center for their photoshoot.

It was already time for Asr when Fadeela called Mahreen to let her know that everything was set and she should come home and dress up. Mahreen's makeup was expertly done by La Hermosa Faces; she looked absolutely stunning and more. Her eyes were bold and smoky, adding a touch of sexiness, and her signature red lipstick made a statement, she will always be a red lippie girl.

She slipped into her dress, a blue Fulani Saqi paired with a matching Vlisco Super Wax featuring high-quality lace embroidery from HKG. The dress was tailored into a fitted wrap gown, and the Saqi served as her headpiece and veil. She completed her look with silver Jimmy Choo pumps and a silver zirconia necklace and earrings set.

Ya Ahmad took her to the venue, and the decor was nothing short of fascinating. Fadeela certainly knows her taste, and the event decor reflected that perfectly.

The seating arrangement featured low cushions and tables covered in brocade fabric, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Decorative lanterns and fairy lights added to the warmth of the setting, while the area was adorned with pillows and mats for the bridesmaids' comfort.

The food area was beautifully arranged, showcasing traditional dishes displayed on colorful platters, including Dambu, grilled chicken, wainar flour, alkubus, maasa, and more. The drinks offered were zobo, kunun aya, and kunun zaki.

The dessert area was set up with an assortment of cakes and small chops. Fadeela truly went all out for Mahreen, and she couldn't thank her enough; she hopes she does even more for Fadeela on her wedding day.

Mahreen's friends and cousins were already getting their henna done.

Fadeela helped Mahreen settle into her seating area, which was decorated regally and beautifully.

Everyone's attention was drawn to the bride, and they couldn't stop gushing over her beauty and outfit. Wear.Thawb definitely deserves an award.  Mahreen kept introducing the owner of Wear.Thawb to everyone who asked about her outfit, and Aminatu was so nice to them all and also they clicked instantly with the bridesmaids who hoped to patronize her.

The event started, and 'yan kidan kwarya and Asharalle were already drumming to their hearts content while the ladies danced and sprayed money on each other.

Mahreen was getting her henna done while Fadeela had already washed hers and got food for Mahreen, who hadn't even had breakfast. Mahreen is so stubborn, wallah!

Fadeela got her maasa, taushe, and pepper soup, one of Mahreen's favorites, along with kunun aya. She fed her while scolding her until she was full, and Mahreen couldn't help but side-hug her. She's so indebted to Fadeela. Female friendships are so beautiful when you have the right person by your side. Alhamdulillah, she can't thank Allah enough for blessing her with Fadeela.

As her henna dried, Fadeela snapped so many pictures and videos, sending them to Asad on his orders before he came for their final photoshoot.

When it was time for the photoshoot, Asad and a few of his friends, along with Ya Ahmad, arrived.  Mind Maze Photography and others were the photographers of the day. When Asad asked her who she wants for her wedding photos, she knew exactly who she wanted and Asad booked him .

They took turns snapping pictures: the bride and her groom, the bride and her parents, the bride and her cousins, and the bride and her friends. Mahreen was so tired that she literally had to sneak out of the photoshoot area because her head was pounding and her cramps were hitting her hard. And no one seemed to notice she wasn't okay, so a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
