26. Her birthday!!

Sofia's pov:

Another dreadful day ended. A new day dawned, marking my birthday. every year I celebrated my birthday alone. No festivities, no gatherings, just quiet solitude. Instead, I found solace in the company of the orphanage children, sharing their laughter and dreams. A stark contrast to the loneliness that enveloped me, a void untouched by a single birthday wish.

I refreshed myself and headed downstairs for breakfast. To my surprise, Naira was there, her arms outstretched in a warm embrace.
"Happy Birthday, darling!!"
she exclaimed.

Alina followed suit, offering her own heartfelt wishes and a warm hug.
"Have a great year ahead, babe,"
she said. A wave of warmth washed over me. They must have seen my birthdate on Facebook I thought.

I arrived at the office, and as I entered, I was met with a surprise. The staff members were all smiles, a festive atmosphere filling the room.I couldn't quite place the reason for the celebration. Then, as if on cue, they erupted into a chorus of
"Happy Birthday"
and began to sing. Tears of joy welled up in my eyes as I was enveloped by their warm wishes.

I headed towards my cabin.A single thought occupied my mind: do Ansh remember? With a gentle smile, I drifted through the day, wondering about his birthday wish. Many secrets have unfolded which have changed his image for me.

I was unable to visit the orphanage today, so I organized a small online party for the children there. The rest of the day, I spent working. Though fulfilling, it left me feeling quite exhausted.

As the clock struck eight, I was on my way home. The driver, however, had chosen a different route. Curious, I inquired about the reason for the detour. He explained that the usual road was under construction, forcing them to take an alternate path. I simply nodded in agreement.

The driver halted the car in front of a mysterious edifice. As he opened the door, a woman greeted me, "Ma'am, please come with me."
Without hesitation, I followed her into a glamorous makeup room. There, I was presented with a stunning royal blue gown. I couldn't help but smile, convinced that Ansh was behind this romantic surprise.

"Damn this man, he's getting a bit romantic,"
I thought to myself, unsure how to react to this unexpected turn of events.

The woman led me to a breathtaking, open-air space at the top of a building. It was initially cloaked in darkness, but as I stepped closer, the darkness was illuminated by soft, warm yellow lights. The space was adorned with thousands of roses and candles, creating a magical atmosphere. Yet, Ansh remained a hidden figure, adding to the mystery of the moment.

Lost in the beauty of the moment, I admired the decorations,. For the first time in my entire life someone has done this much effort for me.As I searched for Ansh, a whisper grazed my ear, sending shivers down my spine.
"Happy Birthday Amore,"
he breathed, his voice a captivating blend of melody and sensuality.

Did he just say Amore?
"Thanks... thanks for the surprise,"
I whispered, my voice barely audible, trembling with emotion.

He gently took my hand and led me to a table adorned with candles and roses. A beautiful cake sat nestled amidst the floral arrangement. He pulled out the chair, for me to sit then he sat in front of me.

He took my hand in his, his touch sending shivers down my spine.
"It's your birthday today,"
he began, his voice low and husky.

"I know I've messed up really bad. I've almost destroyed your life, taken away your dignity and freedom,caged you in my world of darkness,I've taken out my frustrations on you many times, made you suffer because of my family,even locked you in the darkness knowing it was your phobia.But trust me, my life was a complete mess.

Then you entered my life, handling my company like it was your own, working tirelessly. I was incredibly impressed by your dedication and skills. Even though I knew why you were working for me, I kept you close, wanting to test your abilities. That first breach in our company was my plan, a test to see how you'd handle it. Don't mind ; it was just a test. But as time passed, my heart was drawn to you. You've become the one constant in my chaotic life and now there's no going back.

I deeply regret every moment of pain I've caused you. You're such a pure soul, and I've been a monster in your story. But I've realized the depths of my mistakes. Can you find it in your heart to forgive me? Can you give me one last chance to make things right?"

Tears welled up in my eyes. His words washed over me like a balm. I remained silent for a moment, taking in the weight of his confession.

"This is a mafia world, if I'm not wrong, people are being killed here just for betraying them, even family members.You caged me, yes, but you didn't kill me. And I know why you own that orphanage land. Vijay told me about your secret plan, how you knew about my deal with him a day before our weeding when he came to talk to you, and how you chose to protect that land.You could have easily destroyed it, but instead, you fought for it.

You cared for me in ways I never expected. You noticed my every discomfort,You took care of my period cramps when I was not on my senses, every time. Most men would have lost their patience, but you didn't.

You knew my limits, my strengths, and my weaknesses. Yet, you controlled yourself. After those nights of torment, you were the one who cared for me, you hired Anna to take my care and tend to my bruises.

You ensured I was having my meals on time when I was working for you by sending Antonio to check me.

You stood against your family for me.

When I was kidnapped, you broke the rule, you weren't allowed to enter in your rival's territory,
You risked your life to save mine.

Yes, your methods were harsh, and you were a monster at times. But I see a change in you now. I see the remorse, the regret. And I... I think everyone deserves a chance"

I can see the regret in his eyes
He tried to brush it off, saying
"It was nothing compared to what you've endured because of me"

He rose from his chair, his presence looming over me. Kneeling before me, his eyes filled with a mixture of hope and vulnerability,he pulled out a small velvet box. As he opened it, a stunning ring, sparkling with diamonds, he uttered,
"I've imprisoned you in my darkness. Can you be the light that illuminates my world, Amore?
Can you be the one to bring warmth and color into this bleak existence of mine? Are you ready to start a new beginning with me? A new chapter?"

Tears escaped my eyes as I whispered,
"Yes, of course."
My heart pounded with a mix of fear and excitement.

A wave of hope washed over me, a promise of a new beginning.
