Finney sat hunched over his wooden desk, a hand resting against the side of his face, his fingers running through his currently untamed curls. On his portable radio, The song 'Dream A Little Dream Of Me' by the mamas & papas hummed quietly in the background.

He had been staring blankly at the sheet of homework in front of him for a while now. He didn't know when he started or what time it was now, but according to the digital clock on his desk, it had just passed midnight.

The teacher had mentioned earlier that it was due in for tomorrow morning and that's when Finney really began to panic. He would normally have it done by now, but recently, his study time had been cut short at the hands of a certain someone.

He knew that if he didn't get it done now he would be in loads of trouble. He couldn't rest peacefully until he knew it was done.

Even if it made no sense. Even if the words were starting to merge together. Even if his head started to feel heavy in his hand. Homework always came first.

A sudden knock on the window causes him to jump and sets his heart off. The noise drags his attention away from his currently blank sheet of paper.

He turns to look out and see who it is, hoping it wasn't some kidnapper or muderer. He squints through the frames of his glasses, seeing a dark shadow.

Once he makes out who the figure belongs to, his body realxes. He drops his pen down and moves over to his bed, the matress sinking as he kneels over and pushes the window up.

"Hey, cutie." Robin started, smiling wide and sending over a playful wink. "What're you doing up?" He inquired.

"Doing homework." Finney answered, his mouth stretching out into a wide yawn. He brings up his hand and slides his fingers under his glasses, rubbing his droopy eyes in attempt to stay awake.

"Aww," Robin pouts and pinches Finney's cheeks. "Look at my nerd boyfriend doing homework at this time." Finn rolled his eyes at the mocking and hit Robin's hand away.

"Well, I've been a little distracted lately." He says with a glare, making Robin smile even more.

"Oh! Cute pyjamas, by the way." Robin teases as he looks up and down at Finney's night clothes. They were a deep blue pyjama set with little stars on them and a galaxy printed on his chest. "So very cute." He whispers, continuing to embarrass Finney as much as he could.

Finney looks away to the side, mumbling a few words under his breath. "What are you doing here anyway?" He questions, curious as to why Robin randomly showed up outside his window in the middle of the night. "Is this some type of Romeo and Juliet thing?" Robin smirked.

"I can be your Romeo if you want." He replied. "Just minus the suicide part." He added on jokingly, making both of them chuckle. "Nah. Me and Vance were having a sleepover, but neither of us could actually sleep, so we went on a small drive around. I saw your light on, so I told him to stop as I thought I would say a quick hello." Robin explained, pointing to the blue car waiting in the middle of the street.

"Hey! What if I was changing!?" Finn leaned over to smack the side of Robin's forearm.

"With the curtains open?" Robin raised an eyebrow.

"It's the middle of the night," Finney pointed out. "No one's awake." Robin opened his mouth to say some stupid remark but stopped as they got interrupted by the sound of floorboards creeking. They both freeze, listening carefully to the footsteps slowly approaching. They were too heavy to be Gwenny, which meant only one thing. It was his dad. "Shit!" Finney whispers in panic, his hands pushing Robin's head down. "Hide. Quickly." He orders. Robin ducks just in time, hiding under the part where the window doesn't hit.

Finney turns back, watching in fear as the door handle twists and slowly creaks open, revealing his father standing menacingly at the door frame.

"What do you think you're doing, boy?" His speech comes out slurred and exhausted. "You should be asleep."

"Sorry, father. I was just -" He stops trying to come up with any type of excuse that Terry would be dumb enough to believe. "I was just watching the stars."

"I thought I heard voices?" He scowls over at Finney, slightly sceptical.

"Oh. Right." Finn chews the inside of his cheek, realising he was close to getting caught out. "That was um-me. I was pretending to be on one of those talk shows." His dad nods slightly, taking the bait.

"Alright. But it's time to go to sleep. You've got school in the morning." He reminded him. Finney put on a fake smile and nodded his head.

"Okay, sir." He closes the door and walks off back to his own room. Finney let out a breath of relief, he didn't even know he was holding. The room becomes empty and quiet again, which leads Finn to remember the boy currently hiding, waiting for the green light. "Robin. You can come back up now." Robin stretches back up, his head popping over the window seal.

"That was close. Huh?" Robin huffed out a small breathy laugh.

"Have you been smoking?" Finney interrogated, the scent of cigarettes clinging to the thin fabric of Robins shirt and burning Finney's nostrils.

"Just a little." Robin answered truthfully, never wanting to lie to his dearest Finn. "Why?" He questioned, his hand coming up to the nape of Finney's neck. Finney frowned deeply.

"I wish you wouldn't." He blurted out. "Do you know how many health problems come with it."

"If you think I'm bad, you should see Vance. He's like a fuckin' chimney." Robin chuckles at his own joke.

"Robin." Finney's eyebrows pull together, not finding the joke funny.

"Alright. Alright." He thrusts his hands up into the air. "I'll make a deal with you," Finney raises an eyebrow, staying silent, intrigued to know more. "I'll stop smoking if you stop picking your lips. One bad habit for another."

"Ok." Finney altermatly agrees. It seemed fair enough.

"Promise?" Finn nods his head. "Pinky promise? You can't break a pinky promise. Ever" Robin holds up his small finger out for Finney to take. Finn snorts.

"What are we? Five?" He jokes. He can't remember the last time he made one. Maybe with his sister a few years ago.

"Come on!" Robin pushes. The smaller boy rolls his eyes but gives in and interlocks their pinky fingers. Vance honks his horn, making Robin look back in alarm.

"Looks like you have to get going."

"Can I get a quick goodnight kiss before I leave?" Robin smirks, wiggling his eyebrows. Finney smiles as he leans in.

"In your dreams, Arellano." He whispers.

"You're a tease, Blake."
