Finney sits on his bed, completely bored out of his mind, and unsure of what to do.
Robin had arranged a date for the both of them for tonight, and Finney would be lying if he said he wasn't a little nervous. He knows it's only Robin, so he shouldn't care that much, but he has never even been close to going on a date before, so this was new territory to him and that was daunting.
Throughout his life, he has had to watch through a screen or read words on a page about romance, never truly getting to experience it for himself. Before meeting Robin, he convinced himself he wouldn't ever get the chance to. But here he was.
They had set out a plan for the night. Robin would come to his window at midnight and take him out to a surprise location. He didn't exactly go into any depth about where it was they were exactly going during the middle of the night. He actually didn't reveal anything at all about the date as he avoided and ignored Finney's constant pestering and questions. He wouldn't even give the tiniest hint.
The rest of the house was currently fast asleep, and now all Finney has to do is wait, which is a much harder thing to do than expected.
He tries to pass the time by doing things such as kicking his feet back and forth, drumming on his thigh with his fingers to a random beat, looking over his chemistry notes. But nothing seems to work. Every time he looks up at his clock, it reveals to him that it has only been a matter of minutes since the last time he's checked.
He begins to overthink. What if Robin doesn't show? What if the clothes he's wearing aren't nice enough? What if he gets caught trying to sneek out? What if-
A knock on the window draws his attention away as the skin on the back of his neck begins to raise with goosebumps of anxiousness but also excitement. He wipes away the sweat from his clammy hands and takes a moment to compose himself before crawling across the bed and lifting the window up. "Finally! Thank God you're here." Finn says, letting out a sigh of relief, knowing he wouldn't have to wait any longer.
"Ah! Juliet! Thou'st Romeo hast arrived." Robin smirks, putting on the worst accent the world has ever heard. He has one hand hidden behind his back, away from Finney's view, but he still manages to do a little bow, causing Finney to giggle.
"You're such a dork." He laughs so loudly he has to remind himself that there were two more people asleep just across the hall.
"Ready to have your mind totally blown?" Robin questions rather arrogantly as he doesn't even attempt to hide the gloaty grin present on his face.
"Well...We'll just have to see." Finn answers with a smirk. Robin raises one eyebrow at him, but his grin does not falter. He always accepts a good challenge.
"Come on then. We haven't got all night." Robin brings up his free hand and connects it with Finney's.
Finney sits himself down on his window sill, placing his legs through first. He then ducks his head so he doesn't bang it and jumps down to the outside, him and Robin now perfectly level.
He faces his window and pushes it back down, leaving a big enough gap for his fingers to fit through so he can easily get back in later.
When he turns back around, he sees Robin, now not hiding his arm, revealing the bouquet of roses in his hand. "I got these for you..." Robin mumbles, lifting his hand up and rubbing the back of his neck, hoping Finney didn't find it too cheesy. "I didn't know which flowers to get you, so I just got roses because I figured you can never go wrong with roses." He shrugs, remembering all the times his father had gotten his mother roses.
Finney beamed brightly and pulled Robin into a hug. Robin doesn't know how to react, so he closes his eyes and hooks his arms under Finney's. He squeezes his torso tightly, lifting him up into the air so his feet are dangling. "Thank you, Robin." Finn whispers into his ear.
