Finney swirled his usual morning cornflakes around with his spoon, lost in his own little world. He tended to space out a lot in the morning, but it was particularly bad today.
Physically, he was in his kitchen; sat at the hard wood table, trying he best not to be too loud and annoy his dad. But mentally, he was in a small bubble of daydreams. He was so disconnected to the surroundings that he didn't even notice the car outside honking loudly and impatiently.
Gwenny blinks at her brother, surprised at how oblivious he is. She walks up behind him and slaps the back of his head harshly, bringing him back to the kitchen.
"Ow!" He lets out a loud yelp, rubbing his head in pain. "Why would you -"
"Your ride is here." Gwen interrupted with a scoff. "Dumb shit." She added, mumbling it under her breath.
He furrows his eyebrows in slight confusion. He turns around to look out the main window, spotting the blue rustic car parked just outside the driveway. "Oh." He says in surprise. He drops the metal spoon from his hands, letting it sink into the bowl before pushing his chair out and standing up abruptly. He grabbed his bag from his feet, stuffing the books that he needed for today. "See ya'." He waves slightly, rushing towards the door, not wanting them to wait for him any longer.
He practically ran down the driveway, opening the door and sliding his body into the back of the car.
"Fucking finally." Vance scoffs, scowling at Finney through the rear view mirror.
"Hey, Finn." Robin greets, looking back with a smile from the passenger seat. Finney returns the smile before quickly glancing back to the annoyed boy.
"Sorry." He apologises. "I got a little caught up." He explains, placing his bag on the free seat next to him.
"Next time, I'll just drive off without you." Vance warns, no signs of a joke evident in his tone. Finney nods his head slightly in understanding. He turns the key, starting up the sketchy engine. Before he can drive away, Gwenny comes running up to the car, yelling for them all to wait.
"Hey, Vance. Hey, Robin." Gwenny waves weakly, slightly out of breath from the running. Vance waves back whilst Robin just merely nods, avoiding her stares.
"What do you want, Gwen?" Finney asks impatiently, wanting to get a move on and start his day. She rolls her eyes at him, leaning into the car window and dropping a few coins into his hand.
"Dad says there's no food left in the fridge. I'm guessing you're going to be hanging out with Robin and Vance after school, so if you are, can you grab some stuff?"
"Yeah, alright." He agreed, stuffing the money into his small pockets.
"You sure you don't want a lift? I have enough room." Vance questioned, but Gwenny shook her head dismissively.
"I'm sure." She said in finality. "I like walking. But thanks anyway." She shot him a warm smile.
"Alright. See you around."
"Bye homos! Bye Vance." She waves.
Vance salutes her before driving off. Finney furrows his eyebrows and looks at him weirdly.
"Why are you nice to my sister and not me?" He sulks.
"I could throw you out of this car if you want." Vance replies with a huff, his eyes glued to the road ahead of him. "Your sister's funny." He says truthfully. "She may be little, but she sure is one ball of rage. I've never seen Robin so scared of anyone before." He chuckles, earning a jab to the side from Robin.
"Dude, shut up!"
"What do you mean by that?" Finney pried curiously, despite Robin's desperate objections.
