Another Super?!

Long story short, M'gann was able to save Superboy and herself from a guy calling himself 'Psimon' while also picking up a new friend/pet that Superboy named 'Sphere', generic I know.

It's been a few days since then and I for one have noticed the two of them are much closer now. However Superboy's newfound calmness doesn't appear to be transferring to me, as he's still acting quite cold despite interventions from every other member of the Team and even Dad during their 'bonding time'.

Regardless, my online schooling starts up again today so I'm sitting on my balcony to sunbathe while waiting for the school's educational videos to upload at 8:00.

It was about half an hour till when I heard my phone start buzzing and opened my eyes. Reaching over I checked to see who was calling me and saw it was Kaldur. "What's up?"

"Hello Alana. I was just calling to inform you that M'gann and Superboy left for school a few minutes ago. Superboy also took a name for himself."

"It's about time. So what'd he pick?"

"Conner Kent."

I nearly dropped my phone when I heard him. "...What?" I whispered.

"I said he chose-"

"No no. I heard what you said, it's just; does he know what that means?"

"He believes it to be in honor of the late Kent Nelson, so I do not believe he has made the connection yet, but he probably will soon."

"I just hope Dad isn't too upset by it," I muttered. "Don't let him know. It should come from one of us instead."

"Agreed. But please do not try to discourage him from-"

"Kaldur," I interrupted, "I'm just going to let him know what his choice means. He might be young but he still has a right to decide on his own name; at least if no one else has bothered to give him one. But personally 'Conner Kent' seems... right for him."

"Yes. It certainly does. I also informed Conner that you started school today as well, hence why you and the others were unable to wish them well."

"Yep. I'm just waiting for the videos to upload, then I can get started on my work."

"You take online schooling correct?"

"Yep. Mom and Dad thought it best if I slowly worked my way into understanding human society. But this is my last year of online school. Next year I'm going public."

After that we chatted for a few minutes until our conversation was halted by Red Arrow giving the Cave a call. After I hung up my phone I checked the time and saw it was slightly past 8, so I opened the first video and got to work.

Recognized Supergirl B08

I stepped into the Cave and glanced around to see no one inside, though a quick scan with my hearing revealed both of the resident Team members were here. I took a breath and went off to see Conner.

"Hey," I said when I found him sitting on the couch. His eyes shifted to me for a moment before he went back to ignoring me. "I heard you picked a name. Conner Kent right?" This time his gaze stayed on me. His glare asked 'got a problem with that?' I swallowed and continued, "I was just wondering if you knew what that last name means."

"Kent?" He fully turned to me, his tone filled with annoyance but also tinged with slight curiosity. "What about it?"

"My human name is 'Alana Kent'. Dad's is 'Clark Kent'. You taking that name is basically you telling us 'I'm apart of your family now. If you don't like it deal with it.'"

He slowly stood up and walked over to me, towering over me, "do you have a problem with it?"

I instantly shook my head, "no. I just thought you should know is all. I'll just leave now," I finished after a beat of silence.

"You do that," he said as he went back to sitting on the couch. I turned and left the room, nearly running back to the Zeta-tube. What I didn't see was Conner turning around and staring at a spot on the floor where I had unknowingly let a single tear drop. He continued to stare at the spot long after the tear had dried and I had gone; thinking about something as his expression softened almost imperceptibly.

Okay before you start biting into me I just want to say that I wasn't planning on stopping here but I ran straight out of ideas for this one so sorry that it's so short. As you've probably gathered I'm not that good at filler chapters. I also have been more focused on getting through season one so I can start working on my real plans for this story.
