"Whoa!" I yelled as Clayface flung me into a wall. "Oh, that hurt." I glanced up when the sound of a window breaking hit my ears and watched as Batman took out the mud man in two moves.
He looked us over and helped me and Aqualad get the others to the nearest Zeta-tube.
"I need to talk to Aqualad. The rest of you hit the showers and head home."
"Head home? I am home," Superboy said, sending a glare my way.
I ducked down and followed M'gann to the girl's showers. "You doing okay?" She asked as we peeled off our uniforms. "That was a pretty rough first mission."
"I'm doing alright. Might have a few bruises tomorrow but I'll be fine." She smiled at me and stepped into the showers; I followed close behind her.

I walked into the living space of the Cave, drying my hair with a towel, when Superboy's voice cut through the silence. "What are you still doing here?"
I froze and glanced over to him, "uh, w-well, Mom and Dad had work a-and it's a weekend so no s-school and I didn't want to be home alone, s-so...," I trailed off dropping my eyes as his grew angrier the longer I stood there. "I-I'll just leave," I whispered and dashed to the Tubes, passing Wally and M'gann as they chatted.

I walked out of the phone booth and onto the bright Metropolis sidewalk.
"Am I doing something wrong? Maybe I made a mistake joining the Team. I just wanted some friends."
I continued to walk with my hands in my pockets, not really knowing where I was heading, until I heard a familiar voice say my name. "Alana?" I looked up to see Jimmy Olsen standing in front of me with his camera in hand. "What're you doing here? I thought your parents said you were hanging out with friends."
"I was, but I uh, felt unwelcome. And everything was winding down anyway so...."
He smiled at me sympathetically and shook his head. "You wanna talk to your folks?"
"If they're here," I nodded.
"Clark had to split to cover a conference, but Lois just got back from an interview. Usual spot. You know the way."
I nodded again and thanked him before heading over to the front desk. "Can I have a visitor's pass? Alana Kent to see Lois Lane-Kent." The lady smiled at me and handed me a sticker. I slapped it on and walked over to the elevator. "Floor 36 please," I told the operator as the doors closed.
When they opened again I was greeted by the hustle and bustle of your average world famous newspaper. Using my superhuman balance and a tiny bit of speed I was about to worm my way through the crowd to find my mom.
"Hey sweety," she said when she saw me. "What's up? I thought you had plans with your friends today."
"I did. But uh, it got awkward and I decided to leave early."
"Ali," she said, staring me dead in the eye. "What happened?"
I squirmed a little bit under her gaze for a minute before spilling. Hey, you try keeping a secret from Lois Lane before you go running for my hide.
"That little- I know Clark hasn't exactly been his biggest fan but he shouldn't be taking his frustrations out on you. He needs to start acting his age."
"Mom it's okay. Everyone keeps expecting him to act more mature, but he's the opposite of me. I'm an adult in a preteen's body and he's a baby in a teen's body. He is acting his age."
