I flew through the air above Happy Habor, just enjoying the fresh air and freedom. 'I wonder if Conner would like to go flying someday,' I wondered, and imagined the two of us with Dad soaring through the sky. 'Though with how he's been treating me that's nothing but a pipe dream.'
"Supergirl please return to the Cave."
I sighed before tapping my earpiece, "Roger that Aqualad. Im heading back now." I changed course and nosedived until I was only a few feet over the bay water. "I'll never get tired of this." As I came up to the beach in front of the mountain I slowed down to let the door open.
Recognized: Supergirl B-08
Kaldur was waiting for me and lead me over to where the others were. My eyes started feeling itchy again so I rubbed them for the upteenth time today, drawing Kaldur's attention. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah. Just, my eyes have been feeling itchy on and off all day. I don't think I'm coming down with anything but...."
"Maybe you should take a break from missions for a while," he suggested and we entered the hangar.
I shook my head, "nah, I'll be fine. Just gonna let it pass."
He looked at me skeptically but dropped the matter as we approached the others.
"Torque wrench. Thank you green cheeks."
I grimaced and linked with M'gann. 'How do you put up with this?'
'Honestly? No idea.'
"I have been meaning to ask: any problem juggling schoolwork with your responsibilities here?"
"Nope," Conner answered shortly before looking at me. I looked up at him and noticed that for once he wasn't glaring at me, but rather had a thoughtful expression on his face.
"Juggling's just one of my many talents. Socket wrench."
"Daily cheerleading practice has presented a challenge; oh but my first loyalty is always to the Team. This team, not the Bumblebees."
"What about you Alana?"
"My schedule if probably freer than theirs. And having super speed helps."
"Got that right," Wally piped up.
"Artemis starts school today. Do you think she will have a problem maintaining her loyalties?"
"Ah she'll be fine," Wally responded as he stood up. "I mean, how much more hostile and annoying could she-"
The wall blasting open interrupted him and knocked us all off our feet. I landed harshly on my back but forced myself to stand up quickly.
'High ground now!'
I shook my head to clear it and took off after the others; right as a living wave crashed into Conner and Wally. A couple spouts of water started chasing me but I weaved through them with practiced ease; only to narrowly dodge a fireball. I decided to use my X-ray vision and scanned through the Fire and Water to get a look at our opponents. "When did humans make evil robots?!"
I shot toward the male-looking one and socked him in the face, knocking him out of the water. As I tried to follow up his companion shot another fireball at me, and I had to backpedal to avoid it. Gritting my teeth I went after her instead, dodging her attempts to hit me. I tackled her into the wall but she tipped the scales on me by laying her fire-engulfed hand on my back, burning through my clothes and singeing my back. I let out a grunt of pain and tossed her away. "That invulnerability sure is taking its time to show up," I muttered, before diving back into the fight.
