A traitor?

The seven of us were in the mission room while a few of the Leaguers repaired the generator and updated the Cave's systems. Kaldur was speaking with Batman about yesterday's events while the others were sitting or standing around a table. I was on the other side of the room half surrounded by solar lamps; Dad insisted when he learned I had been clutching a chunk of kryptonite for several minutes. Speaking of Dad, he had just left for work after having a quick chat with Conner, which seemed to raise his mood slightly; for once he wasn't scowling at anything and everything (or just mostly me, though that's been happening less and less).

Green Arrow put a bowl of pretzels in front of Wally, which seemed nice considering he hadn't had breakfast yet, but Wally's response was less than pleased. "Thanks, but no thanks."

"Yeah," Robin said. "What we want are answers. About Red Tornado and his siblings."

"Exactly." Arrow picked up the bowl but Wally stopped him. "Leave the bowl," he said before munching on some. I shook my head as I watched him chew on the pretzels and rubbed my eyes again. This itchiness was just not leaving me alone.

"YOU KNEW?!" My head snapped over to Conner as he shoved Kaldur into the wall. "That android and his psycho family nearly killed M'gann and Alana!"

"Conner what're you doing?" M'gann asked as she flew over to him. I stood up and shut off the lamps before following the others to flank the three of them.

"Kaldur knew there was a traitor here and said nothing!"

"You knew?"

"And didn't tell us?"

"I sought to protect the Team from-"

"Protect us from what? Knowledge that might have saved our lives?"

I looked around at my friends and could feel their anger and betrayal coming off in waves. "Guys," I started, "maybe we should-"

"You two almost died," Conner said as he looked at M'gann then me.

"Enough." We all turned to look at Batman and I hid behind the closest person, who just happened to be Robin, because his look scared me. Once Conner released Kaldur and the two of them stepped over to join the rest of us Batman continued. "With Red Tornado... missing... the Team will now be overseen by rotating supervisors. Captain Marvel has volunteered to take the first shift."

The captain stepped forward as a means of introducing himself and said, "I'm really looking forward to hanging with you guys." I blinked at him, surprised while Batman took a few steps to stand in front of Conner and Kaldur.

"Red Tornado is a member of the Justice League, that makes him a League priority; you will leave him to us." Turning around he continued and brought up a newspaper article. "I have another assignment for this team."

"Gotham mayor attacked by Guerrilla Gorilla?" Wally read.

'Was this the only thing he could find to distract us?'

I looked over at Conner, 'don't take this so lightly.' I grabbed my arm remembering my run in with the ape half a year ago. "I've met him." My friends and the Leaguers present looked at me and Batman motioned for me to continue. "It was maybe month five after I started getting my powers when I came across him. His name's Monsieur Mallah or something like that. Our fight, if you can call it that, didn't last long; he broke my arm and tossed me around like a rag doll. I had that cast on for a month."

"Then you came across him when he was starting on a series of incidents of which Mayor Hills's encounter is but the latest. Aqualad. You and your team will depart for India and check this out."
