"W-..what..?"
"Well, you said yes?"
"I know, but-"
"Come on, X, don't be scared!"
"....Fine."
Xisuma grabbed the injection. "So uhm.. Who-" "Anyone you want." X went silent before nervously laughing a short sentence. "You- you, uh.. don't have a plan..?" Zed laughed. "Nah, we need to test this before we can make a plan." The two stared at each other with very different emotions. Joy, and confused fear. "How, uh, are you sure-" Xisuma exhaled and calmed himself. "How do you know it's safe?" Zed shrugged. "We don't." Welp, Xisuma thought. There goes my calm.
He looked at the shot in his hands, which were shaking. He gave a soft "..oh.." as he noticed. He grasped the needle in his palm, careful not to stab himself in the process. He looked up. "Woo!" Zedaph cheered. "That's the spirit!" The blonde stepped out of the way, revealing a bright red button.
That's not concerning at all.
Zed, with his grin that seemed to be eternally there, hit the button. The hallway shook slightly, alerting the bird and candy-person-thing. Xisuma received a stare from both. The parrot-person scooted across the ground he was laying on, even though X could clearly see beds, in front of the candyman. He glared as his arms raised and his wings cupped the other being. Speaking of the other being, he looked.. scared..? No. Xisuma knows they're here on free will. Right? He stepped a foot inside.
Step.
The bird tensed.
Step.
The candyman flinched.
Step.
They both braced.
Then silence.
Just Silence.
"So.." Xisuma started. "Hii... I'm Xisuma.." He gave a nervous smile. The parrot stayed unimpressed. "Er.." Xisuma fiddled with his shirt collar. "I, uh," he showed the needle nonchalantly. "I need to test this." The parrot's brow furrowed, his wings raising simultaneously with unease. X picked up on this. "Hey! It's okay!" He put his hands up slightly. "I was told to inject one of you with this."
"They didn't tell you, huh?" The bird spoke.
"What..?" Xisuma replied, a bit startled.
"Figures."
"I just was told-"
"Listen, this place isn't what they say it is." The bird sighed. "Have they had you sign a contract yet?" "No" X stuttered. "Good," The parrot replied. "Then it's not too late. You seem like a good person, so get the hell out of here. Leave. Don't turn back. Get as FAR away as possible."
"What are you trying to say?" Xisuma said.
"Don't trust them."
"Can I atleast know your name?"
The parrot hesitated. "Grian. It's Grian."
Just then, a whirring sound started behind them. The robot. The parrot, who is apparently named Grian, turned his head back towards said robot and smiled. "Ah, Mumbo! You're awake!" The grey eyes of the metal person glowed, turning a softish brown instead. "That I am, Gria-" He stopped himself halfway. "What- who is that..?" He would have gone more against the wall if he could. "One of their new recruits." Mumbo recoiled slightly at that information. "Ah.." (Xisuma swore he saw the robot, Mum- something, jump about a foot in the air.) There was a bang on the glass. There stood a, clearly annoyed, Zadph. "Xisuma!" He almost whined. "Get the job done!" Xisuma sighed. "I'm really sorry, I kinda have to-" The parrot stuck out his arm. "Just do it." "Are- are you sure? I-" the parr- Grian. Grian furrowed out his arm. X sighed and put the needle up to his skin. He hesitated for a moment before pushing down against the plunged cap. Both flinched. The door opened. "Come on, Xiusma!" X got up and began walking. He only stopped once, looking back at the group. Although saddened, he continued walking. Fighting his better judgment, Xisuma shut the door.
