The office was a bland, typical CEO's room. The pale brown room was accented with red fabriced decor. Xisuma sat down in the Merlot colored chair, which was actually quite comfortable. "Now," Cub spoke. "Why did you want to work here?" He inquired. "Oh, uhm." Xisuma snapped back to reality and cleared his throat. "Well, I'm interested in improving our technology and advancing humanity." Xisuma stated blankly, trying to sound professional. Cub scribbled something on a clipboard. "What about humanity would you like to better?" Cub raised an eyebrow, almost seeming excited. "Our way of living and understanding of the world we live in." Xisuma sputter. "Hmm.." Cub jotted something down. After a few more questions, Cub left the room.

When Cub came back, he had a bag. One of those gift bags you would get at a birthday party. "Hello." He handed Xisuma the bag. "Congratulations, you're hired." Xisuma looked inside. There was a grey keycard, an employee ID, and a set of ConCorp lab coats. Although appreciative, he wondered.. Why had he gotten the job so quick? It had only been 15 minutes.. He pushed those thoughts aside. "Thank you Dr.Cub!" Xisuma beamed. "No problem, Mr.Xisuma." "Please, call me X."

When Xisuma got home, he plopped down onto his bed and groaned. He hadn't had a good feeling about ConCorp, but he needed the money and the job paid well. He shoved his face into a pillow when he got a text from an unknown sender. "Hey, it's Cub! Your first day of work is on Monday." Xisuma read it slowly. He read everything slowly. His brother made fun of him for it in grade school. He actually hadn't seen his brother in a while. He doesn't know where he is. Noone does. He missed him. He missed his home, it was far away now. And he couldn't go back.

Monday rolled around and X struggled to put on his work clothes fast enough. He eventually made it, with less than a minute to spare. "Well damn, 'X', you take "at 5 am" pretty literally, huh?" Cub teased. Xisuma, still out of breath, managed a "Alarm.. didn't.. go off." Cub laughed. "Well, follow me. We have to assign you a position." "We?" "Oh, yes, my oher employee, Zed."

Many hallways later, and I mean MANY, the two arrived in a room that seemed to be a break room. "Hey Zed!" Cub smiled. "Oh, hey Cub! Who's that?" The blonde said. He had tan skin and dark pale purple eyes. His lab coat looked the same as Cub's, but had some purple underneath instead of Cub's teal. "Ah, this is our new employee!" Cub smiled. "Finally, it was getting pretty lonely here." "Heyyyy! Am I not good enough for you?" Cub elbowed Zed with a dramatic tone. "Nope." Zed popped the p. Cub gave an exaggerated gasp. "Wow. After all I've done for you." He put his hand over his forehead. Zed laughed. "Im Zedaph, but you can call me Zed." He declared. "Well, let's give the newbie a tour, yeah?" X just watched the two talk, not knowing what else to do. "We need to give him an assignment first." Cub stated in a "well actually" type voice before turning his attention to X. "Xisuma, which of these projects interests you the most?" X was handed a clipboard. There was color coded words in rainbow order. He read them closely. Advanced Life, Anomaly, Hybrids, and G.G.G. "Whats "GGG" stand for?" Xisuma raised his head from the paper. "I'm afriad thats classified info." Zed stated. "Don't worry, we'll tell you eventually." Xisuma went back to the clipboard. "Uhm, 'Project Advanced Life' seems interesting." Cub smirked and turned his head to Zedaph. "I told you." Zed groaned, taking out a $5 bill and handing it to him. "May I have your ID and Keycard?" Cub states after taking the money. He held out his hand. "Uhm, yeah?" X handed him the greyed items. Cub led him to a machine. He put the objects into it and clicked a few buttons. After a few buzzes, out popped the two grey items. But now, they were a light red with a barcode. He looked at Cub, who gave a light nod. With that, Xisuma grabbed the items and put them on. "Would you like me to show you where Section A-1 is?" Zed questioned. "Yes please."

The more the two walked, the brighter each hallway got. Each section looking more clean and lively than the last. Then, they got to a cutoff. 6 paths, each differently colored and labeled with the same words on the clipboard. However, this time there was a purple section labeled "Employees". Zedaph lead X through the light coral hall. They arrived at the determined destination. There were multiple doors on the right side, but only one on the left. There was also a long, white curtain. "What's this?" With an eyebrow raised, X looked at Zed. "Project Advanced Life, or AL for short." Zed smiled while walking towards the curtain. He grabbed a chord coming from the daisy fabric, covering, well let's be honest, who knows what. "Behold.." He tugged the string. "History in the making!" Xisuma's heart sank. Inside were three.. people? Were they even people? "What.. are they..?" He managed to mutter to the proud blonde. "Science!" The person next to him happily declared. "I-" that was all Xisuma could muster. Zed sighed "Welp." He pulled out a Walkie. "Cub, we're gonna need you to prepare the rooms again. I broke another one." There was a sigh from the other side of the communicator. "You need to stop just bombshelling them." "Well they need to know!" Zedaph held the Walkie Talkie close to his face as he said that. "Just, bring him to the purple area." "Will do, boss!" Zed saluted, even though X was the only one who could see him. "Over n' out!" Cub sighed yet again, clearly too tired for Zed's joyful anticts. "Bye." Zed happily spun back around to Xisuma, who was practically hyperventilating. "Well, buddy, we need to go to the purple rooms, just so you can calm down. Then Cub will explain. It's really comfy!" Zed spoke with his arms Akimbo. "I-" X sighed. "Alright.." "I'll lead the way!"

"So.. do you mind-" Xisuma was interrupted by Cub. "Explaining? Yes. We put up a flier for people to help us with science, we pay handsomely, we even offer free housing and food. All you need to do is help us with experiments. Everyone here is here voluntarily." Xisuma let out a relieved sigh. Cub laughed, he seems to do that alot. "Don't worry, friend. This is okay with them." "Oh thank the gods." Xisuma slouched backwards in the lilac couch he was situated in. "Well, should we go back then? If you're doing better, that is." Xisuma smiled. "Yeah.. yeah ok."

Xisuma inhaled before going back to look at the entities in the room. With Zed, of course. After analyzing, there seemed to be a parrot, robot, and a person made of candy? X didn't even know anymore. The parrot was a dirty blonde with a humanoid shape. His legs were that of a bird, wings of primary colors emerge from his back. Actually, the same type of feathers were under his eyes and behind his ears aswell. His pitch black eyes stared daggers into Xisuma when he was noticed. The robot had black hair, sorta fluffy. His mustache almost covered the fact he doesn't have a mouth. His eyes were open, but they were dull as he rested against the wall. He noticed power lines in the gray metal that replaced what would be skin. However, the power lines were off. The metal man was dressed in a plain white shirt, and light gray shorts. So was the bird, and the candyman. The latter looked about normal, until you saw the sweets everywhere on him. Peppermint eyes, chocolate hair, and even pointed ears with some sort of circled candy in place of earrings. There was also, however, several scars across his face and arms. Xisuma wondered at the creatures, before grimacing. What did these people go through..? "Didya wanna start?" Xisuma turned his head to his colleague. "Hm?" "Ah, the experiments. Start the experiments." Zed clarified. "Oh, uh, sure." X smiled. Zed returned the look. He reached into his bag. When did he get that? And pulled out a needle. X eyes widened slightly. He could only mutter.

"W-..what..?"
