(Y/n)'s POV
I took a deep breath, the weight of the moment pressing down on me. The goddesses' eyes were fixed on me, their expressions a mix of curiosity and caution. I could feel the power radiating from them, but I refused to let it intimidate me. This was my chance to confront them, to demand answers.
"Why me?" I asked, my voice steady despite the turmoil inside. "Why was I chosen to be the Oracle? There are countless others out there who could have been chosen, who could have fulfilled this role without the complications that come with my bond to Zeldris. What makes me so special that I must bear this burden?"
The radiant goddess, Seraphina, regarded me with a thoughtful expression. "You were chosen because of your unique connection to the realms, (Y/n). Your heart is pure, and your spirit is strong. The Oracle is meant to bridge the gap between worlds, to bring understanding and healing where there is strife."
"But at what cost?" I pressed, my frustration bubbling to the surface. "You speak of healing, yet you want to keep me locked away, away from the one person who understands me, who supports me. How can I fulfill my role as the Oracle if I'm not allowed to live my life? If I'm not allowed to love?"
Kaelith, the fierce goddess, stepped forward, her fiery presence commanding attention. "You do not understand the stakes, (Y/n). Your bond with Zeldris is not just a personal matter; it has the potential to disrupt the very fabric of our realms. The archangels have warned us of the chaos that could ensue if you remain in the mortal realm. We cannot allow that to happen."
"Chaos?" I echoed, incredulous. "You think love is chaos? You think my relationship with Zeldris is a threat? I refuse to believe that! Love is a force for good, a force that can unite rather than divide. If you truly believe in the power of the Oracle, then you should trust me to make my own choices."
Elowen, the serene goddess, spoke softly, her voice like a gentle caress. "We do not doubt the strength of your feelings, (Y/n). But the bond you share with Zeldris is unprecedented. The realms are delicate, and the balance must be maintained. We cannot risk the consequences of your union."
"Then let me decide what risks I'm willing to take!" I shot back, my heart racing. "You speak of balance, but what about my happiness? What about my right to choose my own path? I am not a pawn in your game, nor am I a tool to be used for your purposes. I am a person with my own desires, my own dreams."
Seraphina's gaze softened, and for a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of understanding in her eyes. "We do not wish to diminish your desires, (Y/n). But you must understand that the Oracle's path is fraught with challenges. The goddesses have seen the darkness that looms, and they believe that keeping you here is the only way to ensure your safety."
"Safety?" I scoffed, my voice rising again. "You think I'm safer here, surrounded by the very beings who want to control my life? I'd rather face the darkness with Zeldris than live in a gilded cage, pretending that everything is fine. If you truly care for me, then let me go. Let me choose my own fate."
The tension in the hall was palpable, the air thick with unspoken words and unresolved conflicts. The goddesses exchanged glances, their expressions a mixture of concern and determination.
The silence stretched on, heavy and suffocating. I could feel the weight of their gazes, the intensity of their scrutiny. My heart raced, a wild drumbeat echoing in my ears as I fought to keep my composure. But the truth was, I was terrified. Terrified of losing Zeldris, terrified of the unknown, and terrified of the power that had been thrust upon me.
"(Y/n)," Kaelith said, her voice softer now, almost pleading. "We do not wish to control you. We want to protect you. The bond you share with Zeldris is powerful, yes, but it is also dangerous. You must understand that the forces at play are beyond what you can see."
