Connie Parian

The cool air was a pleasure , different from the usual beaming sun and hot winds. It was a perfect time to take a walk. My mother joined me to talk and catch up, it had been six months since I had moved out the house into my apartment that I share with Anna. We moved to Georgia for college and her job. I started my college courses a week ago and surprisingly I was doing pretty well with my schedule routine. It was really going to be easier than I thought.

"How are you Connie? Are you eating right? You've lost weight, is everything okay? Do you need to come home? Your dad and I are happy for you to come back." My mom said lifting my arms examining me.

"Mom I'm perfectly fine and I haven't lost weight. We discuss this everyday, I'm staying in my apartment and I will be back certain weekends and holidays." I said walking ahead.

"I know but it's not the same with you being gone. Your not even across town, your states away.I don't know if something wrong or if your okay. Do you need me to be here with you? " She said catching up.

" Callie stop it,I'm a state away. One, I will be okay. Two, I am twenty one years old. I'm going to be okay."

"Okay Connie, I just have one final question."

"Go ahead ."

"Are you having sex ?"

"No."

"Your not?" She sounded stunned.

"No I'm not."

"But isn't Johnny your boyfriend?"

"You can say that, I'm still not having sex."

"Your like on a sex break."

"God mom I'm still a virgin. Can we please stop talking about it, it's uncomfortable. " I saw we were close to my apartment, thank God.

"Oh good, well I'm glad you still are. I bought condoms just incase, you have to make sure you are protected at all times and I can get you on the pill just tell me when your ready."

"Okay Mom, thank you for these things." I said opening the door.

"Yes, Michie and I found it best you get it from us ."

"Oh gosh mom you told dad, thats gross." I said opening the refrigerator door.

"We are a team and he would be pleased to find out that you are still a virgin." She said sitting at the table.

"You better not !" I sat the water down and had a seat next to her.

"Haha you've always been the conservative type just like your father."

"Well I'm sorry I didn't get all your loose ways."

"Anyways let me finish telling you about what May said about my pie."That was Callie for you always stuck on what the dumb housewives said at the book club meetings she held every week. Knowing she really cared less cause she could buy and sell them all. I just laughed and went on with the stories they had enough drama going on to have their on reality show, call it Crooks and Books. She stayed for a long time and even baked cookies. She soon left after getting a call from dad telling her to leave me alone, haha. I grabbed a cookie and turned on some music. Dancing and taking bites from my cookie I was in my on little world. My phone chimed notifying me I had received a message, I plopped down on the couch and checked the notification bar. Johnny had sent a text telling me He was about thirty minutes away. I said okay shrugging throwing my phone down on the couch, I haven't had a good relationship with Johnny since two years ago when he hit me. I never told anyone nor talk about it, It was only one time but one time was enough for me. I stayed with him because I loved him but as time past I fell out of love, and being in. Georgia gave him a free wheel to cheat like he wasn't doing it before. Tonight would be the night we'd either make it or break it. I finally got enough strength to lift off the couch and went in the bathroom to take a shower. We were going on a simple date , a movie and dinner at this little place on the off skirts of the city. While doing my make up there was a knock at the door, I tied my robe around my waist and went to answer the door.
