Connie Parian
Two months ago I broke up with Johnny and he still couldn't get the point . Endless calls and texts were getting old and now he is sending cards and things of the sorts, I am really fed up with it all. I have enough worries with books and grades I don't need his bullshit . I even told him I had been seeing new people, it's like he didn't care. He really needs help, all this stuff going on I haven't even had the chance to go out for a new read. My books sitting all over the house I have read or scanned through Nd I needed a quick fix, haha I sound like a book junky. Hey when in doubt read it out, so I am going to the local library to check out a couple of books to past the time until I buy more. I walked to the library since it wasn't that far away and I could use the exercise I rarely go out the house now. Walking into the library I said hey to Mrs. Smith the librarian. Roaming through the book aisles I roamed for something. In the back I found a book that caught my eye, the name of the famous write Catherine Coulter was printed in gigantic letters on the side. I stretched reaching for the book and had no luck, reaching again someone hovered over me grabbing the book. I turned around and all I saw was their abdomen, looking up I saw a handsome man, well built , very tall, his full hair fell to the sides going along with his well maintained beard, his piercing blue eyes caught my attention as they stared down at me.
"Is this the book you were reaching for?" His voice was firm and strong making me tingle.
"Yes, thank you ." I smiled.
"You welcome. You don't seem like the type interested in the sorts of old literature." He handed me the book.
"What can I say, looks can be deceiving." I smiled.
"Very true. I am Adrian Castello."
"Nice to meet you I'm Connie Parian." His hand warm as we shook hands.
"You should know that Catherine Coulter is one of my favorite authors."
"Mine too , I love the way she makes the characters human but spaced off."
"Yes -"
"Hey you guys, I know you guys are talking books, but you keep it down a little." Mrs.Smith smiled.
"Okay."
"Would you like to discuss this over coffee? If you don't mind."
"Uhm, yes just let me check this book out first." I smiled walking away. I handed Mrs. Smith the book and my card.
"Have fun."She winked at me giving the book back. I giggled leaving her desk, Adrian and I talked about books on our way to the coffee shop. The coffee shop had a strong scent of caffeine and milk , after ordering our coffee we took a seat in the back by a window. Talking about everything from authors , conspiracy theories, and slasher films we found out we had a lot in common. Once our conversation died down a little I took this as a chance to get to know him some more, I think I kind of like him. In asking him a question He beat me to the punch.
"So Connie, tell me about yourself."
"Well what can I say, I'm from Miami, Florida so I love the beach. My father is one thing of the biggest names in corporate, my mother's a housewife, and my brother is a home health nurse. I moved here with my best friend for college. I also like books and slasher films." I laughed taking a sip of my coffee.
"Haha, and your age? Let me guess fifteen or sixteen?" He looked in my eyes.
"No, but I'm flattered. I'm twenty one, how about yourself."
"Still young and beautiful. Born in Germany, and have lived all around the globe. My father , a retired army veteran. My mother, a beautiful woman who died when I was fourteen of a tumor. I have two sisters and they just live life whatever way the day calls." He smiled.
"I'm sorry to hear about your mother."
"Oh it's fine. It was many many years ago. "
"Well what is your age? Twenty-five, twenty six?" I laughed mocking him.
"Thirty one as of today." He said finishing off his coffee.
"Today is your birthday ?!"
"Yes."
"And you were at a library! Do you have anything planned?"
"No, just came to the library and met you."
My cheeks turned a flushed red." Well how about I take you to a bar and we do a couple of shots and play foosball?"
He was silent looked as if he was thinking, oh great please don't tell me no that would be embarrassing." Okay , why not." He smiled.
YES!!! "Okay, let's go." Throwing our coffee cups away, I smiled walking side by side with the handsome man who towered over me. Even though I was feeling the intimidation he made me feel comfortable and save, funny I just met him but it's like he's some one I've known my whole life. Walking into the bar it was low in volume , but rich in people there seem to be no commotion going on today thankfully. We went up to bar and ordered a glass of patron for him and a martini on rocks for myself. We had a seat in a booth and had meaningful conversations and laughed at the crazy people in the bar. It's been a while since I had fun like this, leaving the bar at such a late time Adrian offered to walk me home. Once we got my door we stood in the hallway.
"It was nice meeting you." I smiled looking up at him.
"Yes, nice meeting you also, and it would be a pleasure if I could the chance to see you again." He smiled.
"Of course here is my number call or text me ." I programmed my number in his phone.
"Will do." He stuck his pocket."well good night."
"Good night" I lifted up on the tip of my toes and kissed his cheek. I unlocked the door opening it I knocked Duncan and Anna down."See what being nosey gets you." I laughed.
"We're sorry we just heard you an then a male voice and it was to manly to be Johnny We had to see." She said helping Duncan up.
"He look older, you know how old he is?" Duncan said going back in the living room.
"Thirty one today."
"Thirty one ! You and your mother have a problem honestly." Anna said.
"What can I say, the older the better."
"So he's your new man?"
"He's just a friend."
"Oh baby you! You got what I need , but you say he's just a friend. Oh you say he's just a friend." Duncan sung.
"Oh hush. Mind your business." I went in my room and closed the door. Changing into my sleeping clothes I layed in bed eager to see him again.
Maybe he could be more than just a friend.
