forgot to post this a few days ago, so i'm doing it now. whoops.
it's that time of year again, and spotify wrapped has arrived to expose my music taste for better or for worse! in keeping with tradition, here is my annual breakdown of my wrapped in my misc book.
fyi: this is for my wattpad-related spotify account, which i actually use the most currently!
think this is a similar number to last year?? i remember it being in the 17,000s last time, so this isn't a surprise i guess. wish i could remember what i was doing on the 2nd of may...
i know phoebe bridgers, sufjan stevens and that particular JVKE song in my top 5 looks concerning... but i promise you i'm doing okay emotionally 🙈🙈 let me break it down a little bit:
1. SCOTT STREET — this wasn't a surprise!! i got into phoebe bridgers in a big way this year (as you'll see later on) and "scott street" has been on repeat, particularly the outro where the music builds. sometimes i'll just skip straight to that part and feel the power of the song. apparently i streamed it 58 times, and was in the top 0.05% of "scott street" listeners worldwide.
2. KYOTO — this isn't a surprise either because it gets stuck in my head so easily. it's such a good song to sing along to, and it has such a repeatable quality about it. also i watched lost in translation (2003) for the first time in the spring, so that might have coincided with me discovering this song and it just grew from there.
3. DEATH WITH DIGNITY — in the late spring and early summer, i remember getting into sufjan stevens, particularly this song, "fourth of july" and "should have known better" from the carrie & lowell album. so, once again... not a surprise.
4. THIS IS WHAT LOSING SOMEONE FEELS LIKE — i'm that not surprised to see JVKE on here, but i honestly thought it would've been "golden hour" over this song?? "this is what losing someone feels like" is beautiful, i just didn't realise i had listened to it that much... whoops? some of these sadder songs are sometimes ones i listen to when getting in the mood for writing, and many scenes this year in my fics have dealt with grief or loss, so that could be it.
