12 ━ manifestation really does work (FRANGRAHAM!!!)

y'all... the premieres/press junkets for a complete unknown are giving me LIFE. (warning, i am once again about to go ASDFGHJKL about my OCs)

(btw: i'm actually hoping to see this movie in the cinema! but in the UK, it doesn't release until 17th january, so until then it's just me cheering and getting excited over the djats angle of it all... sorry in advance)

a comprehensive list of all the things, so far, that have drawn weird parallels (pun not intended) to my djats fic, parallel roads:

1. monica barbaro (francesca) and will harrison (graham) being in the movie together, obviously. and the fact that monica is playing JOAN BAEZ who is canonically one of fran's inspirations and her early appearance is modelled off her?? i mentioned this point already but it is still the one that absolutely blows my mind.

2. at the premiere, there was a group photo and i got all excited about the fact that monica & will were in the same photo. then i looked closer at the guy on the end... it's the actor who played jonah berg in djats! THE DJATS REFERENCES KEEP COMING!

3. this lacy dress monica wore to the new york premiere is sooo 70s and boho chic that i had to share it:

(also can we talk about how STUNNING that last shot is?! if that were me in the car, my hair would look like a tumbleweed)

4. official songs that timothée, monica, etc. have recorded as bob, joan, etc. have been released as a soundtrack album... and one of the songs is "silver dagger" WHICH FRANCESCA PERFORMED ONCE IN MY FIC!! i cannot make this up. it's not really that spoilery to say for those of you who haven't read it, but chapter 3, this part:

I MEAN—

i need to use my powers for good or something, because damn.

and side note: monica's voice is SO GOOD, she can really hit the high notes! "house of the rising sun" is especially impressive. i love her commitment to singing and playing the guitar for the movie (same for chalamet and the others). but it's no surprise, considering how for top gun: maverick she (and the other actors) all got into actual jets. there seems to be a significant amount of awards buzz around this movie, including possibly for monica, and i couldn't be prouder 🙌 👑

so... yeah. sorry this chapter is totally unhinged, it's just that as a fanfic writer, it's not often when suddenly you manifest things into existence and you get treated with your face claim singing a song that the character did (just for starters!!)

i look forward to having better/more interesting things to say about this movie after actually watching it. one thing's for sure, it has boosted my inspiration for parallel roads to new levels, so maybe expect some updates for it in the new year...
