Louisiana Showdown (an X-men Evolution fan-fic)

Chapter 4

When Rogue woke up, she found herself in a small room. She tried to stretch, but found

that her arms and legs were bound to a chair. Rogue tried to break the break the bounds but

soon, after exhaustion, she gave up.

Looking around the room, she noticed that it was lit only by a candle. Close by, she saw

a dark figure lying on the ground. Staring at the figure, she noticed that it was a man. Rogue

was startled when the figure began to move.

The man stretched his arms and stood up. Apparently he was not bound like Rogue

was. He looked around the room, then gasped.

"Oh great," Rogue thought. "He saw me."

The figure walked towards the candle and Rogue finally saw his face. It was Gambit's

father, Jean-Luc LeBeau! He looked at her in disbelief. There was silence for a moment before

he spook.

"Are you alright?" he asked Rogue.

Rogue was silent. Gambit's father walked towards Rogue and began to untie the ropes

that bound her arms.

"You're that friend that saved Remy and I lasted time we faced the Rippers, right?"

"Yeah," Rogue finally said.

Now, Rogue's arms were free and she began to loosen the ropes that were holding her

legs. Her neck was sore and she needed to stretch. As Rogue tried to stand up, her legs

became shaky and almost collapsed. Luckily, Jean-Luc LeBeau caught her before she fell.

"Don't worry," he said. "I got you."

He helped Rogue back into the chair. Mr. LeBeau brought the candle closer to them and

they began to talk. Rogue introduced herself and warned Mr. LeBeau to be careful around her.

"My powers are uncontrollable," she told him. "If I touch you, then you might end up in a

coma if we ever get out of here."

"I'm not so sure we have to worry about that. Julien was apparently prepared for you and

your mutant powers. The collar around your neck is probably to turn off your powers so they

wouldn't have to worry about being 'absorbed.'"

Rogue hadn't noticed before, but when she put her hand to her neck, she found a metal

collar. Julien must have put it there while she was knocked out.

"So what do we do now?" Rogue asked. "Without my powers, we can't escape."

Mr. LeBeau shrugged and said, "Not sure. Guess we'll just have to wait for someone

to come and rescue us."
