Louisiana Showdown (an X-men Evolution fan-fic)

Chapter 2

The next morning, Rogue was up and was ready before any of the other students. She

quietly walked through the halls into the kitchen to grab something to eat. Rogue opened the

fridge door and grabbed an apple.

Rogue took a seat at the table just as the other students entered the room. They all

grabbed something to eat and gathered their things for school. The students ran to the garage

and got into Scott's car. Rogue told the others she was going to walk to school. Scott drove off

and Rogue began to walk down the long driveway.

Gambit stood watching through a window as Rogue continued down the driveway. He

turned and walked to the garage to get his bike. He started the engine and rode down to where

Rogue was.

"Cherie," he called to her. "Need a ride?"

Rogue smiled at him and climbed behind him on his bike. They two rode into town and

stopped across the street from the school. Rogue got off the bike, grabbed her bag and walked

down the sidewalk.

Before she came to the crosswalk, Rogue heard a noise coming from an ally. The bell

had not yet rung for school, so she decided to investigate. Rogue slowly walked down the alley

and noticed nothing unusual.

Rogue shrugged and turned around. She looked behind her to see if anything would pop

up, but noticed nothing. Just as she turned her head back around, she bumped into someone.

Rogue fell onto the ground and looked up.

Staring down at her was a cruel face. Rogue suddenly had a flash in her mind of the

time she and Gambit were down in Louisiana. She remembered the man as Julien, one of

Gambit's rivals.

"Julien," she said, standing to her feet. "Why are you here?"

"I have my reasons," he said.

When she finally got to her feet, Rogue suddenly felt hands grab her. Behind her stood

more men from a gang called the Rippers. They had attacked Gambit and herself while in

Louisiana. Rogue jabbed the man behind her with her elbow. He grunted in pain and bent over

to regain his breath. Rogue looked up and saw that more men were standing with Julien now.

"Get her!" Julien commanded, pointing at Rogue.

The men lunged themselves at Rogue. Rogue tried to fight off the men, but they proved

to be too many for her. Some men grabbed her arms and held them so Rogue could not move.

Rogue looked up at Julien and said, "What do you want with me?"

"Not just you," he replied. "You and Remy Lebeau."

Rogue's eyes suddenly grew wider. Julien had tracked down Gambit to New York and

he was now kidnapping Rogue so that he could get to him. Julien then pulled out his staff, which

was like Gambit's, and sprayed Rogue with knockout gas.

The men holding Rogue had let go and stepped back just as Julien had sprayed Rogue.

She tried to grab Julien, but ended up collapsing at his feet.
