"Thank you, Rogue," Jean said.

She looked at her friend and smiled. The two placed Gambit's arms around their

shoulders and started towards the whole. Jean levitated them out of the mansion and onto the

wet ground. From there, the group started towards the X-Velocity. As they walked, Gambit

started to wake up. He looked into Rogue's bright eyes and smiled. When they reached the X-

Velocity, Rogue opened the door and the girls helped Gambit in.

While Rogue helped Gambit settle into a chair, Jean took the wheel and started the

engine. Rogue took a seat across from Gambit. While the craft lifted into the air and flew off

towards the Institute, everyone was silent.

Gambit looked at Rogue, who was staring out her window. He reached over to her and

took her gloved hand in his. Rogue spun her head around and looked at him. She seemed

startled by his actions.

"I'm sorry, Cherie," he said. "I never meant for any of that to happen to you. I wasn't sure

what else to do. I was scared what Julien was planning on doing to us; to you. People have

used you too many times and I wasn't willing to let that happen again, but doing that only

caused more pain."

There was silence for a moment before Rogue spoke up.

"I understand Gambit. You were did what you thought was best. If you hadn't given me

your powers, then I don't know what would have happened. You did the right thing Gambit; your

actions saved us."

She looked into his eyes and he returned her gaze. She then placed her head gently on

his shoulder and he put his head on hers. In the front seat, Jean smiled.

"Looks like Rogue finally found someone she could touch," she thought to herself.
