Y/N's POV:

"You're invited to the Thomas family Christmas celebration." Lily read the text. "P.S: Y/N I heard you have a boyfriend. Bring him." I read. "So  yeah Leo you're coming." I say. "Are you sure it's okay?" he asks. "Gran literally asked for you to come." I shrug. "Plus Gran loves having people over." Lily pipes up. "Especially Mark." I roll my eyes. "Hey I can't help that I'm charming." Mark smirks. "Suuuure charming." I sneer "Anyway Leo you're coming." I say. "Fine. I'd like to meet your family." Leo said.

A week later:

We had just arrived at the farm. "Wow. I never expected your family to own a farm. Let alone one this big." Leo said. "Welcome to the farm." Lily says switching accents. Lily was able to switch accents with a snap of her fingers. Mark was absolutely fucking smitten. I had the slight accent but nothing like Lily's. "Howdy kids." Gran said. "Hey Gran." I smile. "Come on. Come in. Don't stand there in the cold." she said She grabbed our bags. "Gran you're gonna break your back." I sigh. "I ain't breakin' anything anytime soon. I can carry a few bags." she scoffs. "You sound like Grandad." I smile. Gran laughs. "Can you imagine I was ever from the city?" Gran said smiling fondly. Me and Lily laugh at the thought of our Gran a city girl. "You know her stubbornness reminds me of someone." Leo teases. I stick my tongue out at him. "Y'all comin' or what?" Gran calls over her shoulder. "Yeah we're comin." Lily says.

We follow Gran into the house. "Sam and Sabrina are already here."  Gran said. I scowl at m aunt's name. "Lily, N/n you know where your rooms are. Mark you show Leo to the guest house." Gran says. We nod and head to our rooms. I smile as I see my room exactly the same. I start unpacking. After I finish I get changed real quick into w/o (winter outfit). I head downstairs to find Leo mobbed by my family. I clear my throat. "Hello would you please let my boyfriend breath?" I ask. Mark laughs. "Knowing us what do you think?" Gran teases. I roll my eyes. "Are you going to stand there being sassy or say hello?" Uncle Sam asks. I smile and walk over. Uncle Sam pulls me into a hug. "God... you look just like your mother." he mutters. I blink. "Thanks..." I mutter. "Sam let the girl go!" laughed Aunt Stephanie. She hugged me as well. "Look at you! Why didn't you introduce this cutie when you came to LA?" she teases. I laugh.

"Y/n." But Sabrina says from behind. I scowl. "Don't turn around." Aunt Stephanie mutters. I nod. "So where is that Guardian of yours anyway?" Aunt Sabrina sneered. I clench my fists. Leo steps up next to me and squeezed my shoulder. "We can go outside if you want." he said. I nod. He takes my hand and leads me out. "Running away again?" she calls after me. "Sabrina shut your damn mouth." Gran scowls. Leo leads me outside. "I didn't know she was such a bitch." Leo said. "You're reading my mind Valdez." Mark says. I sigh.

"I just need somewhere peaceful to go." I say. "Then come to the stables." Lily says. I smile. We head over to the stables. I sigh and slump against the hay. I reach up for my necklace and started playing with it. It was a seashell necklace my mom gave me. I was one of the few things I still had that Aunt Sabrina didn't take from me. Everyone was silent. Leo reaches to comfort me but I wince. Hearing and seeing Aunt Sabrina brought up so many unwanted feelings. 'You're overreacting.' her voice says in my head. Leo pulls his hand away when he sees me wince. "Are you okay?" he asks. I nod. 'Lair.' he voice mutters. "Yeah I just need to be alone." I mutter. I didn't need to lift my head to know my friends were concerned.

After they leave I bring my knees to my chest. "Maybe I am just overreacting." I mutter. "Yeah you definitely are." an all too familiar voice says. My eyes widen. "Natalie?" I say. "That's my name idiot." she rolls her eyes. "What're you doing here?" I mumble? "Mom told me how you pathetically ran away agin." she sneered. "I didn't run away." I scowl. "So walking away isn't avoiding Mom?" she asks raising an eyebrow. I look down and bite my lips. 'She's right.' I thought. Natalie smirked. Just then Lily entered. "Dinners ready." she said eyeing Natalie. Natalie scowled. I stand up as she whispers "This isn't over.". When she leaves Lily looks at me. "You good?" she asks. "Yeah..." I say. 'Okay? What a lie." Aunt Sabrina laughs in my head. She narrows her eyes not convinced but sighs. "Come on Gran won't wait long." she says. I nod. "Coming." I say following her back to the house. Gran had made Y/f/f (your fav food). "N/n sit down. I made your favourite." Gran grins. "Thanks Gran." I say.

??? POV:

I roll my eyes. Little Y/n. Always the favourite. Just like her mother. I stop myself from scowling so Ma doesn't see me. She might be smiling now but she wouldn't be soon. "So Leo how did you and my granddaughter meet?" Ma says. The boy -Leo- raise an eyebrow at Y/n. "They know." she nods taking a bite of F/f. "Well we met at camp." the boy said. Ma smiles and I roll my eyes. "So was it love at first sight or slow-burn?" Jack asks. Sam burst out laughing. "Slow-burn? Jack have you been reading Stephanies books?" he asked. Jack grins. "I need to move those to a higher self." Stephanie mutters. "So? Was it love at first sight?" Jack repeats. Leo laughs. "No we used to be friends." Leo said.

"But you went for Y/n?? Really?" Chloe wrinkles her nose."Aren't there others girls at you camp?" Nat asks. "Yes but California here is amazing." he said narrowing his eyes. "California?" I raise an eyebrow. Leo and Y/n share a smile. "Inside joke." Leo said. 'Oh she's definitely her mothers daughter.' I scowl. 'Always the favourite. Always having them wrapped round your finger.' I glare at Y/n.

Y/n's POV:

I try to ignore Aunt Sabrina's glare but it's hard when she in front of me. I finish my food and get up. "May I be excused?" I ask. Gran nods. I head up to my room. I sigh. I get showered and changed into my pyjamas. I look out of the window and noticed it was raining. "Zeus must be angry." I mutter getting into bed. I close my eyes and head to sleep.

Time skip: At midnight

I wake up panting to the sound of thunder. My breathing was loud and heavy as I felt the walls closing in on me. 'I need to get out of here.' I thought. I get up off the bed and out of the room. 'Need to get out. Need to get out. It's too small. Too tight. Need to get out!' I head out of the house and to the stables. Thunder rules above and lightning strikes. I draw and sharp breath. "Why? What tonight Zeus?" I mutter. I open the stable door.. "Hey Coral." I mutter stroking her nose. She neighs asking what's wrong. I shake my head. "Just need fresh air." I say. She narrows her eyes seeing the thunder and lighting. "I know. I know you hate storms. But please." I say. She sighs but lets me take the reins. I lead her out of the stables and hop on her. I whip the reins and she gallops off. I close my eyes as I feel the wind and rain around my face. "I need to get away. As far as possible." I say. I basically ran as far away as I could from the house. I finally reach a hill with a tree. I get off Coraland rest against the tree. Pictures of crash flash through my head. Lightning crashes down near me. I coil into a ball as more memories haunt my mind. "Don't talk back girl. You're the one who made this ugly." Aunt Sabrina's voice rings in my mind. I close my eyes trembling. "Make it stop."I whisper. "Make it stop!" a tear runs down my face. "Please make it stop." I whimper. Coral comes to me and rubs my face. I take a ragged breath. As much as I tried not to I got sucked into another nightmare.

Flashback:

Eight years old:

"Which one of you little shits took my necklace!" my aunt screamed. "Not me." Chloe and Natalie said in unison not looking up from their iPads. Aunt Sabrina glared at me. "Where is it girl?" she asked. "I don't know. I don't have it!" I exclaimed. "Don't lie!" she scowled. "I don't have it! Maybe you should ask Chloe and Natalie." I say. "Oh so you're blaming them?" she raise an eyebrow. I shake my head. "Exactly.n Why should I believe you over my own daughters?" Aunt Sabrina said. "Maybe you should check her room." suggested Chloe. "Get up." Aunt Sabrina gestures to my room. She lets me to my room. She starts checking for her necklace. She opens the bedside table. She holds out a necklace. "You don't have it? Really?" Aunt Sabrina says with sarcasm. "I..I don't know how it got there." I stammer. "Don't lie or do you want me to take the bear." she threatens. My eyes widen. The bear was a present from mom. "Exactly. Go get the knife." she sneers. "I'll get it!" Natalie yells. A few minutes later Natalie comes with the knife. She gives it to her mom. Aunt Sabrina yanks my arm out. and draws a cut on it. I wince. "That'll teach you from takin my stuff." she says. Then before she leaves she says "And if anyone asks you got cut by a thorn while playing." And then she leaves with a wicked smile. Natalie snickers.
