The Interlude is taking too long, so here's a new chapter!!

Austin's POV:

As people rushed to the kids I stood there. My head was numb, my legs were numb. Peter was taken, Aaron was taken- he didn't have legs. Did that thing take his legs? A faint cry from Mincy snapped me out of my trance.

"Damian!! Damian can you hear me?! DAMI!!!" My legs finally started to move. The large group of people huddled around the kids and some were tending to each other's wounds. I push into the crowd and plopped right next to Damian.

He laid on the ground motionless. The back of his head was matted down with blood.

No... no nonononononononono-

"Wait," I looked over to Alan. He looked to Zula and shifted closer to Damian. "what was that trick dad taught us when one of us got really hurt?"

Her eyes flicked back and forth until they widened. "Soul Transfer!! It's the same practice they used when making soul weapons and in the same vein as Soul Coping." She moved to right next to Alan.

"Place your hand over the Soul." Alan moved his hand over to Damian's chest. "Feel your Soul like how dad showed us and move it into your hand." Alan shut his eyes tightly and stilled. After a few moments his hand began to faintly glow yellow. "Alright, now with using a little bit of it, give him the extra boost he needs to heal." As Zula finished her instructions Alan let out a slow breath. Damian's chest began to glow as well. After several seconds all the glowing stopped.

Alan opened his eyes and stared intently at Damian. Everyone held their breaths. Suddenly Damian shifted and groaned. His eyes fluttered open and looked around. "What... what happened?"

Alan immediately gave him a tight hug. The others all chattered and let out a sigh of relief. I sat back and looked up at the ceiling. It was cracked and shattered. My heart sank. I just got him back. Now, not only my brother, but my nephew was taken away. I just want my family to be whole again.

I look over to them. Mom was holding all the little ones who were crying. She was crying herself, mascara had smeared and run down. Her hair was a mess and she looked so much older. Cayden was being held by Raina just staring out into who knows where. Dad was now holding onto Damian trying to tend to his wounds and talking to him. NW was currently shouting at Aslan about going after the monsters. Based on how he's acting, my twin senses tell me that he's really freaked out and scared.

I heard footsteps behind me. I turn around to see the triplet brothers with tears streaming down their faces. Taylor was holding onto his brothers' hands tightly, Huck was hiccuping and gasping, and Irwin was letting out little squeaks as he cried. My brows drew together and I frowned. I gestured to my lap and all three crawled in and snuggled up. I wrapped my arms around them and hugged tightly.

Aslan and NW walked up towards the group. Both seemed calm, but I knew their discussion wasn't over. The groups looked up to them. Aslan gave NW a look, he scoffed and sat down next to me. I gave NW a questioning look, his look back said, 'he wants to say something'.

"Before we all go off to who knows where, we need to know what we're going to do and what we're defending ourselves against." He looked over to the kids. "That thing, you all knew what it was. What is it plotting?" The kids looked at each other. Al raised his hand.

"He's a Shapeshifter. His name's Connor, our uncles Tanner and Topher told us about him. He disguised himself as one of the Soul Soldiers and was going to destroy the UM from the inside out. There was this... weapon that could create a complete genocide towards the monsters. He was going to use it against the humans, but dad stopped him. He must have rebuilt the machine if he needs my dad." Everyone chattered on about this new information.
