Charles Pov:

16 Years ago...........................

I set the papers neatly onto my desk. I had just finished my first day on the job and everything went swell. I leaned back into my swivel chair and looked at the room. It used to be my father's, until he passed away. I had to fight tooth and nail to receive his position. My only other competitor was my younger brother, but he had no interest taking on this job.

I sighed and pulled back my hair. I guess my biggest challenge would be the Representative's Meeting this next week. Better get home to talk to Enoch about how to navigate it. I push my chair back and walked swiftly out the room. I decided to stay late to work on papers, so the hallways were quiet. As I walked towards the main doors, both swung open and a small boy entered the corridor and struck a hero pose.

"Aaron has arrived!"

"Mon cher you have to wait for maman." The boy turned to the woman at the door.

"Sorry maman. Aaron got excited."

She smiled and shook her head lightly. "It's 'I got excited' dear, and it's okay." She walked up next to her son and ruffled his hair. He giggled as she did it, but immediately stopped when he noticed my presence. He ducked behind his mother and peeked from the side.

She must have not noticed me at first since she jumped a little when she did. "Oh! Dear me, I apologize. I didn't see you there." She chuckled nervously and scratched the back of her neck (like mother like son I guess 😊). "May I ask you monsieur, are you the new head of the Representatives?"

"Yes I am, I'm Charles Unity." I stuck out my hand for her to shake. "Leonard Unity was my father." (FYI Leonard Unity is LoN)

She shook my hand and smiled. "Florence, and this is my son Aaron. My condolences for you and your brother." I nodded. After we stepped back I bent down to get a better look at Aaron.

He had very wavy blonde hair that went all over the place. He had two very big blue eyes and a button nose dusted with freckles. It looked like he got a bruise on his cheek which were very chipmunk like. I couldn't help but notice that his eyes had a sparkle to them; like stars. He was a very adorable boy.

"Hi bud! I'm Mr. Charles, I work with your parents now. Isn't that cool?" He averted his gaze and nodded.

"Maybe," Florence spoke up. "you can bake him something as a welcome?" He lit up and bounced when he heard that.

He turned his gaze to me once again. "Do you like star bread?"

"Well I don't know. I've never tried it before!"

Aaron squealed and tugged on his mother's sleeve. "I want to make it for Mr. Charles! BUT only on his birthday." We both blinked in surprise at the statement.

"Okay then, I can't wait for my birthday! Don't you forget now." I shake my finger at him playfully. He giggled and nodded his head determined."

"Well it was nice to meet you Mr. Unity, but we have to be home before his dad finishes dinner!" Aaron stuck out his tongue and made a gagging sound. She lightly smacked the back of his head. "Hush you. Au Revoir monsieur!"
