My heart beating. Blood pumping through me. The faint noise of people yelling and running. Heavy breathing.

That's what I heard when I ran into the hospital that the love of my life was just rushed into.

When the doctors and nurses were finally done connecting wires and tubes to his body, and cleaning up the blood, they let me sit by him. The doctors said that there's nothing else they can do. I don't remember hearing anything else they were saying.

So I sat down beside him, and took his hand in mine.

"Being in love isn't easy, especially with you. But I'm here for the long run, babe. Don't leave me. I love you. I love you. I love you." I said between sobs.

"I have loved you since we were 18." He sang, half heartedly.

Then the heart monitor goes to a constant, long, loud, beep.

But let's go to before all that.
It'll explain everything.
