Chapter 11: Mumbhattan Mayhem pt. 1

While Hobie and Melody swung and hopped over buildings, Miles, Gwen and Pavitr struggled in Alchemax. Throwing punches and kicks at a big barrier dividing them from the Spot as he made Alchemax workers disappear into his black holes. Pavitr frantically turned around to talk to the workers who were running for their lives. "Hey! Uh, can you guys please help deactivate this wonderfully strong barrier?" "We can't turn it off until the collider sequence is complete!"

'Collider...sequence?!' Miles immediately had flashbacks.

Peter.

Kingpin.

His uncle.

He and Gwen frantically and nervously started banging on the barrier, begging The Spot to stop his madness. But, of course. He ignored them. He was going to PROVE to them that he wasn't just a villain of the week. 

The collider slowly but surely turned on. They were running out of time. That's when Miles had an idea. He's been working on improving his electric powers. Maybe he could've used that!

He touched the barrier with his index finger, feeling the energy radiating. He turned to Gwen and Pav, looking down at his hands. "Okay, stand back! I've been workin' on sum' new." He turned back to the barrier, letting all his fingers touch the barrier. He groaned as the energy from the barrier travelled throughout his body. He stood there for a good while, basically playing with the barrier. A bright pink energy circles across the barrier, pulsing with a soft, radiant glow. 

After a few minutes of simply watching Miles do all the hard work, Pavitr rightfully asked, "How long is this supposed to take?!" 

"Ju-just give me a second!"

Gwen chimed in, "Do we need to help with something or...do we just...just stand here?"

"Are you charging it or-"

Miles groaned, not just at the pain he was experiencing but also from the annoying nagging of the two Spider-People behind him. "I'm absorbing the energy to shoot it back!" He replied, as if it was supposed to be obvious. 

Gwen and Pavitr kept clammoring him with questions, driving him insane. 

He basically had to YELL at them, "Bro, just let me do this!"

Before he could continue, a loud voice boomed from behind them. 

"Oi, oi!" 

Hobie and Melody came charging into the room. Hobie ran even further about to use his guitar when The Spot turned around and noticed him. He chuckled, "Oh, no, you don't." Black holes were then summoned below all spider-heroes except for Melody, leaving half of their bodies stuck in the ground and the other half on the ceiling.

 Melody flipped over the black holes and rolled over to Hobie's guitar. She immediately picked it up ready to charge. Her suit lit up as the nanotech flowed through. As soon as the warm sensation of radiation hit her palms, she used Hobie's guitar to destroy the barrier. 

After blasting it, Melody ran over the barrier to The Spot, using her mega-blasters on him, sending him straight to the floor. With her other hand, she shot a web at Gwen. But, to her sueprise, it formed into FOUR webs, pulling all of the Spider-Heroes down. 

'Huh...that's new. Weird.'

Hobie was the first to make his way over to her. He scoffed, "Damn, I didn't know you could mash up a guitar like that, Iron Woman!" She smiled beneath her mask and shrugged, handing him his guitar, "I'm in a band, I picked up a few things." Hobie nudged her shoulder, "Yo, we gotta link up and jam sometime! I could roll through your ends, or you can slide to mine. Bruv, even Gwendy's finna pull up! She'll hop on the drums... Man's tryna start our own band out here!" "Honestly, I can vibe with that! We should do it!"

Miles was NOT happy about this random guy making plans with Melody. Crazy how someone who JUST met Melody was making more moves on her than Miles has ever done. 

The Spot gets back up, coughing. "Jeez...I love how many variations of you guys there are!"

Pavitr is the next to run up to Melody and Hobie. Hobie immediately lights up as he sees Pav. "My man, Pav, big steppa'!" They began play fighting right there on the spot...as if they weren't supposed to- yk what, let's let them have their fun, alright?

"What's this dude saying?" Miles asked Gwen. "It stands for 'We get along great and we're close friends!'" Pav replied in a cheerful manner. Hobie made eye contact with Miles then looked at Gwen, "Yo, is that the other bruv from 1610? Mike...oh right, Miles." Miles still kept his eyes on Gwen, "You seriously understand this guy?!" Gwen simply shrugged. 

As The Spot threw black holes at Pav, Hobie and Melody, they effortlessly dodged them with tricks and flips. Pav shouted to Melody, "Hey, new girl! Thanks for breaking the shield!"

Miles scoffed, "Hey, I loosened it!" 

Hobie moved over to Miles, "A bit of advice, use the palms, not just your fingers." Hobie examined Miles and his...amateur suit. He cringed and looked at Melody, "Is that his suit? Is he bleeding from his armpits?" Melody giggled, "That's what I've been telling him for so long now! It really does look like he's bleeding, huh? He'd never listen. It grows on you, trust me." Gwen swung around Hobie and Miles, formally introducing them. "Miles, Hobie. Hobie, Miles!" 

Melody lunged at The Spot, which ended her to fall in one of his black holes, which THEN had her colliding into Pav. Miles and Hobie came following after but The Spot caught them, holding them by their necks. The Spot sarcastically remarked, "Y'all make a HECK of a team!" 

Instead of, I don't know, FIGHTING BACK, Hobie replied, "I don't believe in teams." 

Melody, helping Pav get up, shouted, "Weren't you in a band?" 

"...I also don't believe in consistency."

Luckily, Hobie couldn't see it but Miles did the BIGGEST eye roll at him. Miles muttered, "Man, this guy's killin' me." He kicked The Spot in the head, causing him to drop both Miles and Hobie. "This is gonna be good for us, Spider-Man!" The Spot told Miles, cornering him.

Before the other Spider-Heroes could get to him, The Spot put all of them in a black hole which sent them all the way across on the other side of the room. 

The Spot continued, "You and I will finally live up to our potentials..."

As he spoke, the collider powered up even more.

"You'll finally have a villain worth fighting..."

It powered up some more...

"...AND I'LL FINALLY NOT BE A JOKE TO YOU!"

BOOM!
