Multi-colored lights illuminated Miles and Melody's masks as they travelled across the multiverse. Melody held her stomach, praying the immense speed they were going at wasn't gonna cause projectile vomit to fill her mask that quickly, too.
Within seconds, the Spider-Gang fell into a portal, landing them straight into a moving elevator. One by one, each Spider-Person took off their masks. Miles stared at Melody, whose back was facing him, as she shook her head left and right, regulating her curls. He reached out to tap her shoulder, yet pulled back. His attention switched to Hobie, who just took off his mask. Dark skin, tall, chiseled, piercings, AND wicks?! "How...how are you even cooler under your mask?" The words flew out of Miles' mouth without thinking. Hobie shrugged. "I was this cool the whole time."
Melody felt an arm draped over her shoulder. Hobie's. "Say, Iron-Woman, how about after this, you ditch with me and you teach me that barrier breaking move from earlier?" Melody chuckled, "I don't even know what I did!" Miles' stare hardened as Hobie and Melody's laughter echoed.
"Psst," Hobie nudged Melody, "To your left. Look out the window." As she turned her head, her eyes lit up at the view infront of her. Through the glass window, a chromatic, glossy and glassy almost frutiger aero-like city in pale colors appeared. Melody let out a loud exhale, not even realizing she was holding her breath. Miles turned around, being drawn into the view. As if he was in a trance, He walked over to the glass window, standing next to Melody. Realizing, the city was upside down, Melody looked down at her feet, remembering her small moment with Miles.
"Wow..." Miles whispered. "I know, right..." Miles and Melody looked at each other's reflection in the window. Miles took a deep breath and turned to Melody. "Mel, again, are we good?" Melody sighed, her eyes meeting the ground again, "Miles, can we not-" She was cut off by Gwen tapping Miles' shoulder. "Hey, over here." As Miles and Melody turned around, the elevator's doors opened with a bright light. Miles could've sworn this was heaven.
As they walked out the elevator, Miles held his head, his mouth open. "Yo...this place is wild!" Everywhere he looked, there was a new Spider-Person. In various sizes, genders, colors, all in one space, in harmony. There was easily close to 100 people in this one space. His eyes and smile widening, Miles couldn't even process what was happening. Meanwhile, Melody kept her head facing forward with a blank face and mind. She touched her empty wrist, scratching lightly. Miles didn't even notice. He walked over to Gwen. "This...is unbelievable." Gwen kept a nonchalant tone, "Oh, this is just the lobby. Welcome to the Spider-Society."
Walking past him, Hobie asked, "It's a bit much, innit?" To which, Miles ignored. This was exactly what he wanted. More people like him. Melody sped up, catching up with the crew. "So, how come we were never called here? Were you guys always here?" Gwen froze. She started to stammer, "Well, uh- it's a... a small elite strike team! Most of these guys work half-time." Hobie cornered Gwen, whispering, "You didn't tell them anything about here, I'm guessing." "I- Listen, they're not supposed to be here-" Before Gwen could finish, Miles and Melody winced in pain as they fell to the floor glitching. Hobie muttered, "Clearly." Jessica threw bands at the two outsiders, to ensure they didn't glitch again.
After getting up, Melody felt Miles tug on her arm. "Melody, we seriously need to talk. Stop avoiding me." Melody yanked her arm away and scoffed, "I'm not trying to avoid you, Miles. This just isn't the best time right now! Look at where we are! Look at where YOU have us-" "Me? Nobody told you to come!" Melody stopped walking, Her heart ached. She turned to face Miles, "Nobody told you to jump into random portal without me."
Miles let out a sigh. "Listen I...I saw Gwen and I missed her. I missed the gang. Of course, I'd follow her, it's been a while!"
"Miles-"
