It had been a week since you and Sevika were together or even spoken. Jinx let me know that Sevika was comfortable with me being on my own with tattooing clients, and I was able to start using the extra room she said she would gift to me.

You admit that you enjoyed having your own space, yet you didn't feel like it was yours. You felt like it could easily be taken away, just how Sevika easily removed herself from your life.

On the contrary, you and Jinx became closer. If she wasn't with her clients, she was in your room and vice versa.

One thing you noticed about Jinx is that she tended to have conversations in the room that you weren't a part of, but you didn't judge her for it. Sometimes you would talk to yourself too.. but you were sometimes frightened by it. There were two times where you had to help her calm down from it, but it only made you care for her more. More than you thought you would.

Other than that your life felt dull again. It had only been a week so you tried not to dwell on it, but after those messages.. you just couldn't help but fear that you'd lose all that you worked for.. and the woman you met in the process.

As you cleaned up your tools, Jinx blabbed on about the gadgets she had been working on that Sevika never let her use on their clients because of health protocols and violations. You laughed at her frustration and once you put the last tool in the compartment, you pat her head.

"I think that she's right about those violations and protocols..." you spoke only for her to sigh and roll her eyes. "But I feel like you can use these things for sum greater than human beings."

Jinx tilted her head at your comment. "Wow... did you get that from a fortune cookie from that Chinese restaurant down the street.. I swear that lady killed her husband." She mumbled the last part lowly but enough for you to hear.

You busted out laughing at her remark, but you know that Jinx would take what you said to heart.

You guys were both interrupted by Jinx's phone ringing. She answered it quickly once she recognized the caller id. "What's up?.." Jinx spoke, but she quickly paused to listen to what the person was saying. She immediately groaned and huffed a "fine" before ending the call. She walked out the door without saying anything, but she quickly came back to hug you before she truly left you. Alone..

You had been walking home by yourself, but sometimes Karla picked you up when she was downtown. She been talking to this new guy, but he often had to come down here for work.. so she would make her visits.

Tonight was a night you walked by yourself. You bundled up, moreso to disappear from the outside world and soulless, hungry eyes. You walked quickly, but with confidence and determination. You wanted to keep a quick pace, but wanted to appear untouchable and not weak.

You made it to the bus stop, but you couldn't avoid someone calling out to you, and then cursing the shit out of you for ignoring them.

Luckily, the bus came not too long after you arrived and you quickly got on, took a seat, and read a chapter of your book that you needed to write a report on.

Eventually you made it home, walking from the "nice" side that connected you near your apartment. You went to unlock the door, but noticed it was already unlocked. You backed up slowly.

You couldn't wait for another bus, it would take a while. You could call a taxi or an Uber, but they don't like to come over here. You're sure Karla would come, but she wouldn't be here immediately either. And walking was not the best nor the safest option.

After breathing harder than you normally would and contemplated your options, you heard a voice you've been missing.

"Bring your paranoid ass in here... please." Her voice held pain. A grunt making its way in her sentence.
