Chapter 1

"She started it!" I yelled as my mom dropped the bomb on me.

"Don't even go there, Piper! You told her to go shit a brick somewhere else!" My mom replied, outraged. "She is your teacher and you disrespected her just because she told you not to be late again!"

"That doesn't mean I need to go to shifters boarding school!" I can't go! What about my friends? What about my semi-normal life I have going here? Ugh! If only that hag hadn't been my teacher. The nerve of some people!

"I'm sorry but we have no choice. As the future third of our pack you need to learn your place. You leave in the morning."

I ran out of that house as fast as I could and quickly shifted into my all black silky fur that matched my hair. I could feel my eyes shifting from blue to green as I fought my rage.

"Can you believe mom?!" I asked Jade my panther.

"She is just doing what she thinks is best for us. Plus who knows, we could meet our mate at the new school." She replied optimistically.

"I doubt it, panthers are rare and you know we can't mate outside our kind." I hated that rule.

"True but our mate is specifically for us so we can just break the rule if we need to." I could feel her smiling mischievously in my head.

"Yeah I guess. I just hope it's not too complicated." I hoped as I trotted back to the house. Tomorrow was going to be a long day.

I slapped my devil alarm clock as I slowly sat up. Getting up at 6 in the morning was hard enough without having to leave my life behind and I almost went back to bed until my mother burst in my room.

"Get ready to go and pack. We leave at 7:30."

She informed me a little too cheerfully for this early. After I hopped out of the shower I let my black hair dry in its natural soft curls. Being a shifter gave me perfect skin so I only put on mascara and lip gloss.

"Hurry or you are going to miss the flight!" My mom warned from downstairs.

"Is that supposed to make me want to hurry?" I snapped back.

"Heard that." She scolded as I walked downstairs.

After a quick breakfast and throwing on my shoes I quickly drove to the airport.

"Excuse me miss but I'm going to have to wand you. It's random picking" a middle aged brown haired security guard said as he examined me as if i was a piece of meat.

"Men are such pigs sometimes!" Jade shouted in my mind.

I agreed as I smelt something off about him. I couldn't pinpoint it so I let it go. After threatening his life and Jade switching my eyes to her bright green, he let me go. I almost felt bad when he tripped over himself trying to run but oh well.

The flight was 2 long hours and I couldn't wait to stretch my legs. After landing I was greeted by a man and a sleek black limo waiting for me.

"I could get used to this" Jade purred.

"Me too but don't forget that we aren't here by choice" I reminded her as we drove to the prison... I mean school.

I was mad at my situation but I had to admit the mansion was beautiful. As I stepped out I was greeted by a very bubbly redhead with hazel eyes.

"Hi! I'm Bailey if you need anything let me know. I have the room next to yours. The only time I wont help is if i'm reading, if you interrupt I wont be responsible for your injuries." She said with a sweet smile.

"Thanks" I replied with a smirk as I was the same when it came to reading.

I could already tell we were going to become good friends.

When she showed me my room I gasped at its beauty. A royal looking bed was pushed against the far wall with matching red drapes on the windows. The bathroom could easily belong to a queen with its large glass shower and a elegant bath with jets.

"We are so using that later." Jade demanded.

I returned to Bailey when I dropped my stuff and finished drooling over my room.

"So what are you?" I asked.

"Oh! I'm a wolf shifter." She stated proudly.

"And you?"

"Panther" I responded.

"That's really rare! I hope your mates one too or things could get complicated" she said referring to the well known law.

"Yeah I hope so to. But I'm willing to break the rule to be with my mate." I stated, sounding more sure with Jade backing me up.

Bailey smiled as I saw something flicker in her eyes. Understanding? Huh I'll have to ask her about it later.

"Oh well I'll let you get settled in and come get you in the morning. Good night."

As soon as she left I threw myself on the silky bed.

"I'll unpack tomorrow" I said to myself as I drifted into a peaceful slumber.
