Chapter 3

I woke up to the sun streaming through my window. I quickly checked the clock. 10 am.

"Hurry up you lazy bum! We only have 30 minutes till class starts!" Jade yelled giving me a migraine. "Maybe I'll just let you take control. I'm too tired for this." I replied not fully awake. "Ok! When I'm done we will look so good!" Jade said cheerfully.

20 minutes later my hair fell in soft waves around my shoulders. I had on a blue shirt that said "Don't talk to me" with my favorite leather jacket and dark skinny jeans with knee high black boots. I had to admit, I looked pretty bad ass.
"Damn I'm good" Jade stated with confidence.
I took back control as I grabbed an apple and ran out the door.
I spent first period reading and occasionally giving snarky comments to Mr.Smith. Second period was just as boring. The only interesting thing that happened was when two boys got in a fight over who was stronger, but it quickly ended when Mrs.Scarlet gave them detention thus ending the only entertainment. Me and Cody hung out again during free period and agreed that when I find my mate we should all go on a group date. I was really glad Bailey had someone as nice as him.

I walked to fourth period hoping that I would find my mate soon. I wasn't desperate but I was excited to find the one for me. I just walked into the classroom when I smelt rain and cedar wood mixed together. It was the most amazing smell ever. Apparently Jade agreed as she started to try and take control. When I looked up for the source of the intoxicating smell I was met with bright green eyes.
"MATE!"Jade screamed over and over in my head.
I was pulled from her yelling as the green eyed God suddenly yelled.
"MINE!"
My mouth hung open and time seemed to pause as I looked him over. He was well built with defined arms and a tight fitted shirt that hinted at a 6-pack. He had short brown shaggy hair just long enough to run my hands through and a killer smile. His captivating green eyes are what pulled me in though. He was perfect.
We were pulled out of our trance when the teacher rudely cleared his throat. My mate and I snapped out of our trance like state only for him to grasp my hand and walk us out of the school.
When we stepped outside he turned to me and gave me a jaw dropping smile.
"Even his teeth are perfect!" Jade gasped.
"I'm Xavier, what's your name my little mate?" He asked. His voice was deep and alluring.
"I'm Piper" I replied happily.
"Don't you dare forget to introduce me too!" Jade shouted at me.
"Oh and my panthers name is Jade. What about yours?" I asked leaning slightly forward. We already met and I want to know everything about him.
"Uh..." he suddenly looked nervous. "See the thing is I'm not a panther shifter."
He looked down at me, seeing as I'm only 5'8 compared to his 6'2, and looked as though he expected me to reject him on the spot and run for the hills.
"Oh, well what are you?" I questioned softly to help him relax.
"I'm actually a black bear shifter."
"Wow that's hot." Jade suddenly spoke up.
"Cool. So do you want to skip the rest of the day and go get lunch? I'm starved" I said as I pulled him towards my car.
"You're not upset?" He questioned.
"Nope" I said popping the P.
"But the law is we can't be together."
I stopped pulling his arm and quickly turned to face him. "Look Xavier" his eyes gleamed as I said his name "I've never been one for rules. In fact that's why I'm here in the first place. And if I have to fight some stuck up old people to be with my mate then I will. Now what are you hungry for, Chinese or Italian?" I said as I resumed pulling him to my car. His face suddenly lit up as he gave me a smile that would have knocked me over had I not been leaning on my car. He suddenly pulled my face forward and crushed his lips to mine as my world flipped. There were fireworks behind my eyelids as the tingles intensified from the sudden contact. The kiss was soft and full of promises to be together despite life's many obstacles. We pulled away breathless after a couple of seconds.
"Wow" Me and Jade said simultaneously.
"I could go for Italian" he said as he opened my door for me and hopped in the passenger side. We just met but I could already tell I was going to spend my life with him.
