*Xavier's POV*

It had been over 12 hours since Piper was taken from me. I continued to pace in front of the bed as Bailey, Cody and Evan passed around theories of who could have taken her.

"It had to have been someone she trusted and would have told she would be out tonight." Cody said as he watched me almost waiting for me to explode. "But they would also need a motive."

Max was growing restless as I walked back and forth. "Where is she? What if someone's hurting her?!"

"We have to keep our head." I reminded him, "Running in circles without any clues won't help us find her."

He let out a vicious growl realizing I was right. I have to stay calm no matter how much I want to punch something.

"Oh! Piper told me about this girl that was acting all bitchy the other day. I think her name was Gina or something... Grace that's it!" Bailey spoke up already heading to the door.

"Bailey it's the middle of the night. Even if we could find her she would be asleep." Evan said standing up.

"If she knows where Piper is then it doesn't matter if she is asleep or not. Bailey do you know where her dorm room is?" I asked.

"No but there is a list by the main entrance that shows all the dorm occupants and the room number. If we find her name we find her room."

We checked the list and headed to Grace's room. I was in no mood for pleasantries so I tore the door knob off and walked in. She sat at a desk with her laptop open when she heard us and turned around.

"What the hell are you guys doing in my room?" She asked closing her laptop and standing up.

"Where. Is. She?" I spit out through clenched teeth. Her eyes flashed with understanding and she smirked.

"I'm sorry but you are going to have to be more specific. I don't know who you're talking about."

I was let out a growl and was about to threaten her life when Bailey spoke up. "We don't have time for this shit. Tell us what we need to know or I will smash you face against the wall so hard you will leave an imprint." She threatened as she started to shift into her wolf. Cody soon followed and shifted as well to help Bailey. When Grace saw the red wolf and mountain lion she gasped.

"My my, another set of mismatch mates. The council won't like this one bit." She tisked with a returning smirk.

The council, I had almost forgot about them. They were the ones in charge. They made the dumb rule about not being able to mate outside your species. If they found out they would take Piper from me. I wouldn't let that happen. Cody let out a loud hiss as the thought crossed his mind as well. The thought of losing her was too much. I felt Max pushing just under the surface wanting to be let out and attack the threat.

The anger became too much and I rushed forward. I held her up against the wall by her throat. Her eyes became gray and her pupils elongated. She hissed with a flick of a long forked tongue. I had always had a hatred for snakes.

*Piper's POV*

Bright artificial light streamed into my vision as I woke. I attempted to test my restraints and immediately regretted it as pain shot down my forearm. I was inspecting my now bandaged arm when my stomach growled reminding me that I haven't been fed since I got here.

"We have to get out of here. We need to get back to our mate." Jade spoke up. "Perhaps we can use one of these funky do-hickies to get out." I scanned the area to make sure I was alone before throwing my body towards the table of terror. I managed to scoot close enough to grab a thin, zig-zag looking blade. I shuddered imagining what they would use it for and quickly set to work picking the lock on my cuffs.

"Hurry, I hear someone coming!" Jade said sounding panicked. I fumbled for a few more seconds before finally unlocking the cuffs. Just as I removed them the big door opened and a bald man with arms the size of tree trunks walked in. "Odd, he smells like a normal human. If you get the chance take him out, we have the upper hand in strength." Jade said trying to calm me.

"Here is your food." He barked setting it on my lap. "You are gonna make me rich when boss takes control. As a favor i'll help you eat." He said with an evil smirk. He grabbed a handful of the brown mush and started to shove it at my face.

"Now's our chance!" Jade shouted launching me into action.

I abruptly stood up catching him off guard and locked the handcuffs to his wrists to the leg of the nearby table. Thank goodness it's cemented to the ground. I thought as I dodged his kick and landed a solid blow to his jaw knocking him unconscious. I grabbed the blade again and quickly undid the chains around my ankles.

"Hurry before someone notices his absence. I'll trace our sent to find the exit, just don't stop moving." Jade said as I gave her more control. I ran into the hall and ran through many turns with Jade feeding me commands. I almost wept with relief when I came to a set of double doors leading to the outside world. Just as I pulled open the doors I was tackled from behind. I hit the ground hard taking the impact for both myself and the jerk on my back. I moaned and rolled to my side grabbing my head as stars appeared behind my eyelids.

"Did you think you could leave without me finding out?" asked luke sounding rather arrogant.

I groaned and got to my feet. "I made it this far didn't I?"

"Don't get sassy with me or I'll make your life a living hell." He threatened while elongating his teeth.

"When i'm with you, it already is." I sneered shifting into Jade's form.

He shifted and charged at me. I jumped to the side at the last second and swiped his legs as he passed knocking him on the ground. He growled and got up only to charge and miss again. "He's fighting angry which makes him sloppy. Stay focused and we should win this." Jade said giving me a boost of confidence.

When he stood and faced me again I gave a challenging smile to further antagonise him. It worked as he angrily swiped a paw at my head. He was so unfocused his claws weren't even extended. I turned my head and caught his paw in my mouth and bit down. Hard. He gave a whimper and hobbled back a bit. When he looked down at his paw, which was surely broken, I lept at him knocking him to the ground. His head hit the solid ground knocking him out.

I looked at him with not anger but pity and ran into the forest. It's not his fault he was made like this I thought as I continued through the thick trees. I soon came to a small cave by a stream and decided to rest for the night. "Tomorrow we'll return to Xavier." Jade said joyfully as I closed my eyes and fell into a dreamless slumber under the full moon.
