Chapter 5

I woke up Saturday morning to find Bailey eating my food on the end of my bed.
"Morning sleeping beauty" she said as she ate my pancakes.
"Why are you eating my food? You can go to the store and get your own you know."
"I know. But I love pancakes so much and I saw that you had some so I just took them" she replied with a smile.
"Besides they were gonna go bad soon and I can't let my babies go to waste now can I?"
"Your so weird" I said as I hopped up to get dressed. I settled on some blue jean shorts with my purple tank top with ruffles.
"I have something great to tell you" I told Bailey as I sat next to her with a bowl of lucky charms.
"I found my mate"
"OMG REALLY?!" She screeched as she almost threw her pancakes.
"When? What's he like? Is he a panther too? Can we go on double dates?"
"Slow down curious George. Gosh. His name is Xavier and we met in class. He's incredibly sweet and some serious eye candy."
"I can't wait to meet him! Awe have you gone on a run together? Has he marked you? Have you -"
"Take a breath Bailey! Yes we went on a run. No he hasn't marked me yet. Oh and he's a black bear, not a panther." I said hoping she wouldn't fire more questions at me.
"Really? Wow what about the rule?"
"You know how I feel about rules and I told him the same. Nothing will keep me from who I'm supposed to be with." I looked up to see Bailey with the biggest smile on her face.
"We need to go on a double date. There's something me and Cody want to tell you. I have to go get ready. See you at 6!" She said as she scurried out of my room before I hade the chance to accept or decline.

After sitting around all day watching Netflix and eating junk food, I pulled out my phone to call Xavier.
"Hey beautiful, what can I do for you?" His voice instantly brought a smile to my face. After sorting out all the details I hung up and looked at the clock only to see it was 4:40. I dropped my phone on the charger and sprinted into the bathroom and took a shower in record time.
"What should I wear?" I thought out loud.
"Something hot but sweet. It should be short but not too short" Jade spoke up.
"Well aren't you helpful" I remarked as I looked at my two dresses. One was a light purple sun dress that reached my ankles and one was a short black dress that I had kept from homecoming.
"We have nothing to wear! Unacceptable." Jade sighed as I stood at my closet feeling worried.
I was suddenly pulled from my thoughts as someone knocked on my door. I opened it to find a excited looking Bailey holding two dresses and a large bag of make up.
"I saw your closet earlier and assumed you would need a dress." She smiled as she held up a beautiful dark red dress with a single strap across the chest to hold it up. It faded to black and fell to my thigh.
"It's beautiful Bailey thank you!"
I pulled her in and we both quickly got dressed. The dress hugged my curves and made my skin almost glow. I walked out of my closet to see Bailey in a light green strapless dress that went down to her knees.
"We look hawt!" Bailey exclaimed as she rushed me into the bathroom to get started on our make up and hair. Because we are shifters our skin is naturally clear so we simply put on some mascara and eyeliner and curled our hair.

Right at 6 the boys knocked on my door. Bailey and I stepped out into the hall giving each other a wink.
"Wow" Xavier breathed as I stepped into his open arms. "You look beautiful" he whispered in my ear. I felt my cheeks heat up as I stepped back. He saw me blushing and sent me a wink which only made my face redder.
"Let's go. You guys can make out later" Bailey said as she giggled and took Cody's hand.
I blushed even redder if it was possible as Xavier grabbed my hand and led me to Cody's black Ford truck.

We arrived at Olive Garden and were quickly seated.
"So Bailey said you two had something to tell us" I said as I turned to Cody.
"Oh ya. Well I sort of lied to you when we first met." He said with a slight blush.
"What do you mean you lied to me?" I asked leaning forward with a slight growl. Jade hated being lied too.
"Well um I'm actually not a wolf. I'm a Mountain lion"
Bailey spoke up before I could respond.
"We didn't want to lie to you I just was nervous for how you would respond. When you told me you would be with your mate no matter what I was so happy but I wanted to wait till you found your mate to share the news. Your not mad are you?" She asked as she grabbed Codys hand and gave him a nervous glance.
"I don't like being lied to. But I understand. I would be nervous too if I was in your position." I sent her a reassuring smile as the waiter came to take our order.
He looked slightly familiar. Jade recognized his sent but I couldn't place it so I just let it go.
After dinner we all headed back to the dorms. As we were walking out Cody came up to me.
"No hard feelings right?" He said as he ran a hand through his blond shaggy hair.
"Of course not Cody. I get what you did. You were trying to keep Bailey safe."
"Yeah. I'd do anything for Bailey. I love her. We've been together since 7th grade and when I found out we were mates I was so happy. I get to spend my life with my best friend. She's always been there for me and I couldn't have asked for anyone better." He smiled and look at Bailey lovingly. Bailey looked back and blushed as Cody walked up and grabbed her hand.
"Well good night. Thank you for being such great friends." She said as she gave me a hug. "We'll see yall tomorrow."
Xavier came over and grabbed my hand as we headed towards my dorm. Once we got inside we sat on the couch.
"You look so beautiful. Did I mention that?" Xavier asked with a smirk.
"Only like all night." I replied with an eye role as he leaned in and captured my lips with his.
He pulled away slightly so our lips just lightly brushed against each other as he spoke. "I want to mark you."
Was I ready for that? Yes. I want to be with him forever. I already trusted him completely and was falling fast.
"Then do it." I whispered back.
His eyes darkened as he kissed my cheek and moved down to my neck where he would mark me. He gave it a lingering kiss then bit in causing me to whimper at first than sigh as pleasure over took the pain. Jade purred with pure happiness to finally be marked. He pulled back when he was done and showed me his neck. I gave him a soft kiss before I elongated my teeth and marked him. He grunted as the pain hit then groaned as the pleasure came next. I leaned back and licked my lips.
"Mine" he growled as his eyes darkened further and he pulled me into his chest.
I snuggled into his warm embrace and fell into a the most peaceful sleep I've ever had.
