Dying Breed

Chapter 10

I woke to the sound of birds chirping and the soft glow of the morning sun. I stood and stretched my paws out in front of me and heard a satisfying pop. "Let's go already! I want to see Xavier and Max." Jade said impatiently.

I still wasn't entirely sure where I was so I lifted my nose to the sky and took a deep breath. I smelt humans nearby and headed towards them. They must have a map or something to help me know where I am I thought as I neared their scents. A young man and women were putting on backpacks and packing up their items. The man looked at the women with  a smile of adoration. She smiled back and gave him a loving kiss. Jade whimpered at the memory of Xavier. I decided to scare them off and "borrow" some clothes and perhaps a phone.

I leaped from behind a nearby tree and let out a threatening growl. The couple exchanged a look of panic before quickly dropping their things and running in the opposite direction. I quickly shifted back and took a pair of sweatpants and a tshirt from the womens bag. After I was dressed I began looking through their packs for a cellphone. "Yes!" I shouted as my hands came in contact with the small flip phone.

I was so excited to call Xavier that my hands shook as I punched in his number. I held it to my ear and nervously bit my thumb nail as it rang. It suddenly clicked as the other line answered and I almost wept with relief.

"What the hell do you want?!" I flinched and pulled the phone from my face for fear of my ear drums might break. He sounded so angry and broken. "Xavier?" I said softly as a tear slipped down my cheek.

"Piper?" He asked sounding so hopeful.

"Yes its me. Ive missed you so much."

"Baby where are you? Are you ok?" His voice was thick with emotion making my eyes tear up even more.

"I'm ok now. I managed to escape from Luke and his psycho father. God I miss you so much."

He suddenly let out a loud growl "When I get my hands on him ill-"

"Xavier please, not now. I just need you." I quickly dropped to my knees and started searching for a map. Luckily the campers marked where they were.

"I'm in the Evergreen forest about three hours away."

"I'm on my way now, stay there and stay safe. I love you Piper"

I sucked in a sharp breath at hearing those three little words for the first time.

"I love you too"

I hung up the phone and tucked it neatly into the hiking bag where I found it. I started to turn when I heard a twig snap. If it was the campers I didn't want to have to explain my sudden presence so I climbed into a nearby tree taking a rope from the pack incase i had to stay there for a while. Jade suddenly let out a growl in my head as Grace from  my english class stepped into the open area.

"I knew that bitch was somehow involved in this!" Jade seethed as I moved further into the tree.

"We can get her later. If she isn't alone and alerts others to our presence then we would be back right where we started. Getting captured again won't help anything." I reasoned trying to calm her down

Just as Jade started to back down she suddenly forced me to shift in the tree as the guy who brought me my food appeared.

"Have you found her yet? I owe that bitch a good smack." The walking tree said looking at Grace.

"If I found her you would know idiot. Stay here incase she comes through, I'm going to circle back and see if she made it to the main roads." She said with a dramatic air flip walking off.

I perked my ears as she left and listened for any sign of movement. When I didn't hear anything besides the guys breathing I decided to let piper have her payback. I gave her full control and she shifted back. She picked up the remains of the shredded clothing and put it on. The top had ripped and now showed my tan stomach and most of my left shoulder while the pants, being extra stretchy, only had a few tears. She hopped down from the tree as I got comfortable for the show.

The man quickly turned as my feet hit the dry earth. He marched towards me while pulling out handcuffs with a victorious smirk.

"Well well well, look what we have here." His steps became more confident as he approached and I stayed in place. Little did he know he was in for a surprise. When he was about three feet away Jade set her plan in action. She walked towards him with a flirtatious smile and a slight sway in her hips as I tried not to puke.

"Handcuffs seem a bit much, don't you agree?" She said placing both hands on his chest and slowly sliding them up towards his head.

"Last time they left welts on my wrists and it hurt very bad. You don't want to hurt me do you?" She asked sweetly as she slipped the cuffs and key out his hand.

"Well, I... uh" He stuttered as his movements became jerky and unsure.

Jade smirked at his response and moved in for the kill. She stood on her toes and leaned in so her lips were right by his ear.

"Because I don't mind hurting you." She quickly slipped the cuffs around his wrists as tight as they would go. In his flushed and confused state he did nothing to try and stop her. She tied one end of the rope to the chain holding the cuffs and threw the other through a sturdy branch. Jade used her extra strength to pull him into the air as he thrashed about.

"Let me down!" He yelled as he flung his body like a sack of potatoes.

Jade calmly picked up some of the ripped clothing from earlier and stuffed it into his mouth.

"Sorry to leave you 'hanging' but I have to go now. Bye!" I started laughing as Jade gave me back full control.

I checked the campers phone to see and hour and an half had passed since I called Xavier. Knowing he would be prompt I started heading to the center of the park to wait. just as I reached the clearing the screeching of tires were heard. I looked up as Xavier jumped from the car not bothering to turn it off or shut the door. He froze when he saw me. We both stood rooted to our spots as we took each other's presence in. He was the first to move when he ran towards me with his arms open. I didn't think twice as I hopped into his awaiting arms. He held me and spun in circles before gently putting me down.

"I was so worried. I didn't know when I would see you again and I was starting to loose it I-"

"Stop. It's ok now, I'm here and I love you so much." I said as I let a tear fall. He gently wiped it away with his thumb and pulled me in for a passionate kiss.

"I love you too. Now let's go home". I placed my hand in his and we headed for the car.

I am SUCH A SLACKER AND IM SORRY. Its been far to long. A whole MONTH that's crazy! However so many people have still been very supportive and I love yall for that.♥ Anyway, I'm sorry this isn't super long and I will try to do better. If yall like my writing style and would like to check out my other story that I started, My Rouge, I would greatly appreciate it. Its been in my head for a while so I finally wrote it down. If it gets a lot of love I will continue it after I finish Dying Breed so have no fear I will not put this book on pause.
