Raj🖤
I was really looking forward to meeting her in person. I had been talking to her only online, and I was excited to finally meet her.
“Hey, so your wish has been finally fulfilled,” Remy came up beside me.
I looked at him bewilderingly, “I am sorry?”
“Oh come on Raj don't act foolish after knowing that Nicolas is a team captain now” Remy said.
Yesterday we got to know that Nicolas the defender is our new captain. I was happy for him as he has the potential of being the leader.
“Oh yeah, congratulations to him. I should thank the coach that he chose him” I tease.
For a second I thought he was talking about something else. No wonder my mind is not working properly as it keeps expecting someone to show up.
The ceremony is going to start in 1 hour and she isn't here yet, so is Dane.
Well I should keep up my hope as he isn't here yet too and that means there is a possibility of her showing up.
I went to the restroom for 2 minutes and when I came back I was relieved to see Dane finally arrived. I was hoping someone came up behind him but to my disappointment no one was there behind him.
Of course she didn't show up and my excitement to meet her goes into the cold water and washout.
The Ceremony went well and now the game begins.
It was Eston FC vs The Phoenix Fc.
When the match started I successfully pushed the thought of someone showing up that day. The crowd was insane.
The roar of the crowd was a distant hum, a white noise that faded into the background. All that mattered was the ball, a dark sphere hurtling towards me. I timed my run, a split-second calculation, and intercepted the pass. A defender lunged, his outstretched leg a blur. I feinted left, then right, the ball glued to my foot. The crowd roared again, their energy fueling me.
I drove forward, the field stretching out before me. A gap, a sliver of opportunity. I accelerated, the wind whipping past my ears. The goalkeeper charged, his shadow looming large. I chipped the ball, a delicate arc, a prayer. The crowd held its breath. The ball soared, a perfect parabola. It dipped, it swerved, and then…
A net. The sound of the ball hitting the back of the net was a symphony, a crescendo of victory. The roar of the crowd erupted, a tidal wave of sound that washed over me. I had done it. I had scored.
Match ended and we won our first match of the tournament. It was a great game.
“Hey, Danny” I called after he was packing his kits.
