"Okay, I admitted it. I dislike your team but in a sense I dislike some of your teammate" This time I was fully ready to go to watch my brother's 3rd match.
"I can't believe it. How can you dislike people you don't know personally?" Dane packing his kit bag. "Oh come on Dane, that was a year ago, and I now fully adore your teammate" Fake smile on my face.
"Hahaha very funny" Dane, still unimpressed by my sugar coating. "Anyway, I don't have time for your sugar coating but you can come in one condition"
There it is "The Condition". I don't know what it's gonna be, but right now I badly wanted to go with him. "Say the word," I said.
"Okay little sister now that you insist. The condition is, you would pay my petrol bills as long as you ride with me" He says it like I am a dealer or something. No wonder all Eston FC players are Asshole and Sorry to those who are not.
"You.. Ass.." my words couldn't fully leave my mouth when Dad entered the room. "What's going on kids".
"Nothing Dad, I just wanted to wish my brother all the best for and also wanted him to take me with him" I know Dane will take me with him if Dad tells him to, because he never talks back. "Of course you are going with him to support him" my dad assured me.
I gave a teasing look to Dane who was only nodding his head without uttering a word.
After our father left. He finally looked up and said "It's not fair okay, you always get support from Dad". "You should be thankful, I didn't tell him about your condition or you might end up paying my entire institutional fees" I pointed my finger towards him.
"Don't say I didn't warn you about the crowd" Dane warned me about the crowd since I decided to come with him. "I'll leave if I don't feel like staying," I said, adjusting my seat on the back of the scooter.
"I finally decided to go" I sent a quick text to my best friend. But my bad she wasn't online because of the bad network in her area.
Then we reached. I followed my brother up to the step where his team was sitting. Luckily the Stadium was not packed with people yet. Dane turned to me and told me to make myself comfortable and choose a seat. But when he went to his teammates I was still following him.
He was there. sitting on the step, amidst the pre-game chaos. A familiar face, unexpected in this setting. Our eyes met, a fleeting moment of recognition that neither of us acknowledged.
I gave him a smile and he gave me a Hey gesture by tilting up his head. It was our first time seeing each other in person. My brother was unknown about our online friendship.
"Hey, bro" I shifted my attention to one of my brother's closest friends, Lovi Adler. "Hey, Jane. Didn't expect you here". He was probably shocked seeing me attending their match because I never went to their previous one.
The last match I went to was the one in 2018. The one that Andreas Club was organising.
November 2021 doesn't count as I left the match due to some stupid people.
Flashback
"I am supporting the opposite team," Andreas said. He was enjoying pulling my leg that time.
"The losing one" I turned my head to him, squinting my eyes. I can see Vinny's face from the back of my head, she was enjoying our banter.
Andreas' teammate called him to join them to do the official work.
Since I was hungry. He was literally having snacks with his teammates and teasing me from a distance by showing what he eats. "He is an ass" I turned my head to my best friend.
Unfortunately the team I support was defeated by the team Andreas was supporting. I know he was supporting them just to pissed me off but right now I don't want to see his face so I left without telling him.
The sounds of players laughing yanked me back to the present day.
"Ya, even I am shocked to see myself here" I shake Lovi bro hand. "You can sit there" Dane came up beside me.
I went to the seat where my brother told me to sit. "Ok you can do this. It's not that they are gonna eat you or anything" I encouraged myself.
Players were pulling one of their teammates' legs named Remy. "Aunty, we think you are having a daughter in law by the end of the year" they say to Remy's mother as his girlfriend was also attending the game.
I couldn't help but wish Vinny was here with me. We'd shared countless memories like this. Back in our school days we'd cut class and take half day from school so we could attend the biggest football tournament in the Island. Without her around I feel like I'm stuck in a strange place.
I glanced around at the sea of strangers, feeling like an outsider. The excitement of the match was dampened by my loneliness. My stomach is churned, I wanna throw up by seeing the crowd. I should've stayed at home and chill.
Why am I here?. No one literally no one is here I can talk with other than my brother and Lovi bro. Luckily their match was the first leg.
After an hour of my patient level finally Eston went to the ground and did their warm up. That moment I feel like this crowd is gonna swallow me whole. All the Eston FC lineup and ready for kicking ass opps kicking the ball.
During the whole match I was sitting in one place, carrying my back bag on my back, no moving, nothing. Then I noticed Raj wasn't playing, he was benched. My bad, I mean I was excited to see him play but clearly the universe has a different plan.
Eston won that match 4-0. The crowd went crazy chanting the name of the club. I must say Eston FC Club has a huge fan following compared to other teams.
"Ok sis we're staying because I want to watch the second match". Says my brother undoing his boots. "But..." words couldn't leave my mouth before he uttered "Don't worry, I am staying by your side". He might have noticed me feeling uncomfortable surrounded by strangers.
Everything went well during the second game but I was barely able to attend the game. My mind was already at home. I know it sounds funny but I was homesick.
The second match ended. Everyone got up from their seats and left for home. I was waiting for Dane in the parking lot when Raj came up beside me, he was on his scooter and said "Bye". "Bye" I immediately responded to him and then we pretended that we didn't know each other when Dane arrived.
