I wasn’t the kind of guy who believed in fate.
Coincidences? Sure. Luck? Maybe. But destiny? That was just a poetic way of making sense of things that had no explanation.
At least, that’s what I thought. Until Jane.
The other day, she told me something that should’ve been easy to brush off. Just a dream. Just one of those weird, meaningless things the brain does when you sleep.
But then she hit me with the part that I couldn’t ignore.
It wasn’t just a dream. It was the exact moment we met—before it even happened.
I remember staring at my phone when her text popped up, re-reading it like the words would change.
Moon: "Funny thing is… that wasn’t the first dream I had about you."
Me: "What do you mean?"
Moon: "The first one… it was almost exactly how we exchanged goodbyes in the parking lot. Even Dane being there. Even the way we acted like strangers."
I didn’t move. Didn’t even blink.
Because suddenly, I wasn’t in my room anymore—I was back there, in that damn parking lot. The day I saw her for the first time in real life. She was wearing a white top, black jeans and a navy blue back bag on her back.
It was after the match. Everyone started to rush to their home. When someone was already in the parking lot. Yes…
Jane Scott.
We had talked before—online, in texts, in ways that never felt quite real. But that day? She wasn’t just a name on a screen. She was standing there, in front of me, her black eyes unreadable, her posture guarded like she wasn’t sure if meeting me in person was a mistake.
And then Dane came up beside her.
That was the moment we both switched. She straightened. I start the engine of my scooter. The wall came up so fast, you’d think we had rehearsed it. Like we weren’t anything more than two strangers passing by.
And Jane dreamed it before it even happened.
I should’ve laughed it off. Should’ve told her it was just her mind playing tricks.
