Raj🖤

I Just met the dead half an hour ago. I was driving back home at full speed and music was on blast giving me company, yes this was me when I wanted to escape from this cruel world.

It is not that I am ungrateful. I was privileged, and being the only child of my rich parents doesn't mean i have everything.

People assume that i am the most privileged person on this Island, which is true from their perspective. Me and my mom Sheetal Shekhawat were shifted to Sandbar Island 8 years ago.

My mom is a School Administration in superintendent district level and her post was needed here that is why the authority transferred her to this Island.

We actually belong to the city of star Mumbai even though my father Vikram Shekhawat was in Mumbai handling Business/our 3 restaurants that all have 5 stars.

I stared at the old photo on my phone, taken during happier times. Dad, Mom and I, smiling together. Now, his success had built walls between us.

I remembered the countless nights when mom reassured me that everything will be fine. But distance grew, and so my resentment.

Time Skipped

My phone buzzed on the night stand breaking the calm. I glance at the screen it was Remy calling me

“Hey, didn't we just meet this evening?” I answered.

“Bro i forgot to tell you about Gabriel's party tonight” he sounds excited “there will be girls dude”. I wasn't sure if wanted go or not but.

“Fine, I'll come” I sighed

I was just wanted a distracted for a while

Me and Remy drove to Gabriel's house. It was a 30 minutes drive.

I parked the car and went inside.

Inside, the party was in full swing. Gabriel greeted us with a grin “ I am glad you guys made it”

Beside me Remy was very excited “ we wouldn't missed this for the world”

My mind was now little bit distracted

“Anyway Gabriel, what is this party for?” I asked. “Nothing man it's been a while we were not partying” of course these guys were party animals.

We joined the party, and I went to meet some other friends.

“Hey Mate” Dane came in front of me with a whiskey glass in his hand. “Hey Danny, how's your back pain?”. He was one of the genuine people I Ever met.

“I'll survive, I guess” Dane responded, raising his glass. “I think I need that medicine too” I chuckle.

My First Encouter with Dane

I still remember the day I met Dane, my future teammate and friend. It was during football practice and the Manager of their team introduced me to everyone and Dane was the first person I interacted with.

“Hey you're Raj, right?” His Islander accent was undeniable.

“Yeah” I Replied intrigued

“I am Dane, born and brought up in this beautiful Island”

We exchanged smiles, and I sensed instant connection.

Dane was different from others teammates, he never went against rules.

I was a little bit surprised seeing a glass of whiskey in his hand. The Dane I knew a year ago was never drunk, not even touching some prohibited things that harmed the body internally.

But I shouldn't be the one shocking seeing people turning into something that they never were because i was one of them.

People changed, sometimes for good or bad.

I wasn't sure if the changes in my life were for better or for worse.

Next morning again I bumped into Dane at a Blueberry café

“Morning mate” Dane said, already sipping his coffee

“Morning” I replied, ordering my breakfast

We chatted about everything related to football or about the upcoming tournament in the Island.

Our club Eston FC was the best club in the Island. And winning the upcoming tournament will boost the ranking of our club.

Our manager and coach haven't decided the captain yet and we don't have any idea who's gonna make it.

“We have to win this tournament dude,” Dane said, with a spark in his eyes. Last year was a tough year for him as he was injured and couldn't make It to the state level.

But he never complained about it, this is the reason I connected with this guy, he won't let other people in trouble because of him.

“Definitely we will” I raised a toast to my coffee cup.

“So last night I saw you talking to a girl,” Dane looked at curiously. “Oh yeah, she was really interested in me, so why not click a chance right?” I smirk.

“There is a reason behind why I have been called the Casanova of the team.” I smile lazily.

“I agreed." Dane laughed.

Out of curiosity I asked him “ when did you start drinking?” He smiled, not visibly enough “ I don't remember, but the situation can be blamed for that” I agreed.

“Can't agree more with you” I smiled

“Ok catch you later mate” he stood up and shook my hand “ Ok you see you bye” I responded with his hand shake.

After he left, my thoughts dragged me to the place where everything was dark so dark that only the color you see is black.

This was me when I was alone. This Darkness is gonna eat me alive.

There was no hint of Light.

Light is a big word in my world, I can't afford that, not when the world of darkness is so powerful it can swallow the light.

The hope of light is zeroed. And in this world where the darkness was ruling, I doubted that light would appear.
