The training that went by the weeks after was more and more vigorous, though, fortunately, much less than the quite dangerous first try at 'fusing.'

Still, it left Asriel second guessing the idea more than once, at times only motivated by the sparkly-eyed look Papyrus gave him whenever he accomplished one of the milestones set for him to gain his sentry title.

That, and the guilt of freeloading off of someone who'd already given him half of his life force, soon led him to the day when his 'Dog-Stage' would begin.

"Like I said ten minutes ago, you look fine! With the scarf under your hood and the fact we've shared a b-"
Asriel glared as his loud outside-voiced companion,
".. you'll probably just smell like me! Don't worry about a thing, Doggely." Papyrus finished with an exaggerated wink, sensing the lingering uncertainty in his disguised friend. Truthfully, hed been trying to be extra huggy just to really try and disguise the goat-scent, getting a few teasing elbows about it from Undyne.

Really they both felt the unease coming from eachother, almost comforted by the fact they weren't alone in it.

"..My plan B is becoming a forest hermit, just so you know." Asriel joked to try and ease his anxiety as they got ever closer to the snowy clearing the dogs would supposedly welcome him in, his shoulders relieving the tension as Papyrus gave a hearty 'Nyeh heh!' beside him, leaning on his shoulder casually. Or, as casually as someone like him could, more an awkward closing of distance as he hoped his plans all worked out.

"While it shouldn't come to that, I'm sure Sans wouldn't mind the freedom to laze about all day if I moved out, he'd practically move in with Grillby for the food." He added through hushed giggles, not realizing the slight implication that he already thought about moving out.

With Asriel, nonetheless.

Any discussion further would have to wait however, the sounds of ruff-housing and snoring getting louder as they entered the final stretch, piles of dogs getting ready for the day suddenly perking their ears as the two approached.

He quickly turned from silly to stern, breaking contact as he shouted.

"Half of you don't even have your uniform on!! Don't tell me you ate the memo about the dog stage happening today." Papyrus scolded as his steps turned to stomps, half the dogs looking guilty as they licked their lips in the memory of the delicious paper. Papyrus could only sigh in disapproval, apologizing to Doggely for the unprofessionalism before he swiveled back to face the now mostly in order group of monsters.

"I hope the rest of today goes better than this," he glared one more time, "I'm sure you can introduce yourself! I'd stay longer if I were allowed, but this is sadly where we part." He said with a slightly nervous smile at the other, patting a hand on his shoulder with a subtle check of his costume before realizing how long he was taking, saying his goodbye, and leaving with a slightly colourful face.

With that, Asriel stared at the small pack, getting many curious stares back as they patiently waited for him to do something.

He'd seen these dogs hundreds of times before, in various states and situations, but never did he feel intimidated by them like he did now.

"I'm- Doggely, Doggely the dog." He started familiarly, the dogs responding with wagged tails and open-mouthed smiles.

"A dog?"
"I don't recognize the dog."
"Who's puppy is that?"
"I smell bone, he's friends with Papyrus, very friends!"
The group loudly whispered amongst eachother as they slowly got closer, surrounding him in a crescent as they surveyed the newcomer.

"Smells very bone, what is the other smell?"
"Asgore, smells like Asgore! Are you Asgore?"
"Welcome Doggely! Do you get bones from Papyrus?" They spoke quickly one after the other, some drooling from the scent of snacks, others confused at his lack of canine-stink.
Asriel stepped back slightly at how suddenly they'd scoped out his scent, about to attempt a defensive excuse when he tripped over his own ankle, toppling into the freshly muddy snow with an oomph.
