The next morning came with an uncomfortable aching of joints for both parties, their sleep interupted by the repetitive ringing of Papyrus's phone. After three rings he suddenly shot up, making Asriel groan as he shoved his muzzle into the pillows.

"Papyrus speaking," The skeleton slurred groggily, rubbing his sockets.

"Jeez, woke up on the wrong side of the racecar?" Undyne's voice boomed from the speaker, making the two monsters flinch back.

"Undyne! Doesn't our training start in a few hours?"
"I know I know, but I got this idea that-" Papyrus could make out an 'ahem' from someone in the background, a sigh from Undyne following.

"Me and Alphys got an idea while rewatching one of our favorite animes, and we need both of you to try it out!"

From what little Asriel was hearing, he was already annoyed they'd woken them up for this, a feeling that caught on.

"And we have to do that.. now?" Papyrus's chipper font still oozed sleepiness, catching the two on the other end off guard for a moment. After some mumbled conversation that neither monster could make out, Asriel decided to chip in on the conversation, sitting up and leaning on the skeleton to get close enough to the speaker.

"Listen guys, we love being your lab rats, but at least let us get some rest beforehand, yeah?" While his sleep-deprived brain jumbled some of what he wanted to say, he hoped the message was clear enough.

Though, he wouldn't know, considering how taken aback the next question would leave him.

"Wait, a-are you guys in the same bed right now?"

Suddenly the boys scrambled from the tangled sheets, mysteriously not that tired anymore.

"Okok we'll be there soon!" Papyrus's words blurred together as he spoke quickly, ignoring the giggles on the other end as he hung up.

"That's one way to wake up," Asriel grumbled, reaching for his slightly-frayed coat. That is, until Papyrus interjected.

"Hold on! While grabbing my jammies last night, I found you something!" He darted for his closet, just missing Asriels hidden fawning over his use of the word 'jammies.'

After some concerning rummaging noises he finally emerged, a large, faded-purple hood in his arms.

"See! It was one of Sans old coats before he chose his favourite, I'm sure he won't mind you having it!" His excitement bounced off the walls, an impressive feat for such a tired monster in the others opinion.

Taking one look at his old, fraying coat, Asriel took the soft fabric from the skeleton's ungloved hand.

After their usual changing ritual, consisting of facing a corner while the other changes, Papyrus excitedly spun on his heel to see the others new look.
Admittedly, he did choke on a non-existant breath at first, the newfound look a lot to take in at once.

"What, that bad?"
"Huh?" The skeleton finally got ahold of himself, "OH! no no you look great-It looks great, on you! Uhm," Papyrus gave up on being coherent, instead turning to the door to hide his burning face.

"We'd best get going then!" He chirped, opening the door with enthusiastic force. That is, he slammed it open on accident, wincing for his poor brother.

'Smooth, Papyrus,' He mentally scolded himself, before making his way downstairs.

Asriel on the other hand stood in place, baffled on the sudden exit of his best friend. He really needed to be more careful not to set him off, the mornings felt much easier when he was around to share energy with. Or, really, just around at all.
