"You made me this way," he hissed. "Now live with it."
Tears spilled from her eyes as she stopped struggling, her strength drained. "If you truly believe I’m your enemy, then take what you want. But remember this moment, Adhyant. Remember the man you chose to be when you look in the mirror."
Her words hung in the air like a curse, and for the first time, Adhyant hesitated. His rage wavered, and he pulled back slightly, as if her broken yet powerful voice had reached a part of him he thought long buried.
The room fell into an unbearable silence, broken only by the sound of their uneven breaths.
“You’ve killed Isha, right? Accept it. I swear I will reduce the punishments you will get. And find the real culprit of your parent's death.” Adhyant said and looked deeply in her eyes.
“I’ve told you everything! Let me go, Adhyant! And the murder of my parents is in front of me.” Saachi tried to push him, her voice trembling as she inched toward the window.
“I am not the murder of your parents.” he hissed, grabbing her wrist tightly. She winced, trying to pull away, but his grip only tightened. “And Don’t think you can fool me, Saachi. Not after what you have done to my Isha.”
“Let me go, or I’ll scream,” she said tiredly, her voice breaking.
Adhyant leaned in closer, his expression darkening. “Scream all you want. No one’s going to come. Not in this house.”
Just then, a deafening crash echoed from the mansion’s living room. The sound reverberated through the walls, making Saachi freeze. Her eyes darted toward the door, her fear momentarily replaced by confusion.
“Did you hear that?” she whispered.
Adhyant didn’t even flinch. “Don’t try to distract me. I’m not falling for your tricks.”
“But—”
“Enough!” he roared, slamming his fist against the wall beside her. Saachi flinched, her heart pounding in her chest.
A loud, frantic banging on the door suddenly interrupted the charged atmosphere.
“Saachi….Saachi. Open the door!” Siddhi’s voice came through, high-pitched and desperate.
Adhyant’s brow furrowed in annoyance and getting up he opened the door and looked at Siddhi like nothing had happened inside.
“Bhai…what are you doing here? Okay, leave it. The police are here! They’re downstairs asking for Saachi bhabhi. And Sameer uncle is also here.” Siddhi said in desperately while Saachi also heard everything while standing behind Adhyant.
“Police?” he muttered, his voice barely audible. The color drained from Adhyant’s face.
Adhyant ran a hand through his hair, his confusion and frustration evident. He looked at Saachi before leaving and went downstairs in a hurry.
Saachi was shocked and scared too. But she didn't show it on her face and grabbing her red salwar suit dupatta she wore her slippers and came out of the room.
Siddhi saw Saachi’s hand which had the red imprint of her brother. “Are you okay?” she whispered.
Saachi nodded weakly, and the two women followed Adhyant down the grand staircase, their footsteps echoing in the tense silence.
As they reached the living room, the sight of two stern-faced officers standing in the centre of the living room. While every family member was present there, Sameer was sitting on the couch like a king.
