The warm aroma of fresh food wafted through the hallway as Adhyant and Siya made their way toward Saachi’s room. Adhyant walked in silence, his mind restless with worry, while Siya tried to offer some words of reassurance. Behind them, the maids pushed a trolley stacked with soup and light food, ready to be served to Saachi.

“Kanha,” Siya said softly, using the nickname she’d given him since childhood. “she’s been through so much. You need to be patient with her.”

“But Badi maa, she is upset with me. I think I should not go to her right now.” He said in a sad tone.

“Of course she should be upset because of you. But don’t forget that you are his husband. And she just needs care and love. That’s all.”  She made him understand.

Adhyant nodded slightly but said nothing. His focus was entirely on Saachi. Reaching the room, he opened the door and stepped inside, expecting to find her resting.

The bed was empty. The bed was empty, the blanket haphazardly pushed aside. The IV stand stood by the bed, the drip tube disconnected. Panic surged through him as his eyes darted around the room.

“Saachi?” Adhyant’s voice was sharp, almost desperate.

Siya, too, paled. “Where is she? Kanha, check the washroom!”

Before Adhyant could move, a maid screamed from the attached washroom. “Oh my God! Madam!”

Both Siya and Adhyant rushed inside, their hearts sinking as they saw Saachi lying on the wet floor, her white cotton suit stained red with blood. The razor blade lay discarded nearby, and the faint sound of running water echoed through the room.

For a moment, both Siya and Adhyant were frozen in place. Time seemed to stop.

“Saachi!” Adhyant gasped, his voice breaking. For a moment, he couldn’t move, his body frozen in shock. His heart thundered in his chest, and his legs felt like lead.

Siya grabbed his arm, her own face pale but her voice firm. “Kanha, snap out of it! She’s bleeding badly!”

“Saachi…” Adhyant whispered, his voice breaking.

“Adhyant, do something!” Siya’s voice shook him out of his daze.

Siya quickly knelt by Saachi’s side, her trembling hands pulling out a scarf to tie around Saachi’s wrist, trying to stem the flow of blood.

“Adhyant, pick her up!” she ordered sharply.

Adhyant blinked, the sound of Siya’s commanding voice pulling him out of his stupor. He knelt down, cradling Saachi’s face in his lap. “Saachi, wake up! Please, open your eyes! I’m sorry... I’m so sorry…” His voice cracked with emotion, tears streaming down his face as he gently shook her.

Siya’s hands moved swiftly as she secured the makeshift bandage. “We don’t have time. Take her to the hospital now!”

Adhyant nodded, his hands trembling as he lifted Saachi into his arms. Blood trickled from her wrist, leaving a trail on the floor as he carried her out. His face was a mask of anguish, and his heart felt like it was being ripped apart.

The maid, pale and shaking, ran downstairs to inform the family, who were gathered in the dining room. Her frantic cries disrupted their dinner.

“Madam Saachi… she’s… there’s blood everywhere! Hurry!”

The family exchanged shocked glances, their utensils clattering as they rushed to the staircase.

Adhyant's face pale as he cradled Saachi in his arms and rushed out of the room. Blood dripped from her wrist, leaving a crimson trail behind him.
