CHAPTER 17 — FRIENDS
It wasn't such a bad day as I was dreading it to be. My father didn't talk to me or look at me but he didn't say anything to me either so I'm taking that as a win. If only there was a way to lock my middle brother's mouth, this day would have only been better. However, Aaryan was there to keep him within his limits though, so I can't complain much regarding that too.
Only thing is that I was planning to spend my break within the walls of my house without any of my old friends knowing about my return but that failed when I get a text from Shiv.
Shiv:–
You're back?
Someone must have probably seen me at the shop and the news must have spread out to him. I'm not by any means 'known' but Shiv is and so by association, quite a number of people know me as well.
Me:–
Hey. Yeah.
How are you?
I quickly send a second message intending for it to be a pacifier, but that fails too.
Shiv:–
Man, fuck off with that
You couldn't bother to call?
Or even text???
I purse my lips, thinking the best way to reply to that. Shiv was — is (?) — my best friend growing up. He chose to go to the community college near our houses like my father had intended for me as well, while I, well, chose another path for myself. He didn't have much of a reaction to my choice because he's the only person who knew beforehand about my plan of moving away. And we even parted ways on good terms, him promising that we were going to keep in touch.
We didn't. I'll take full blame for that. He texts, calls and I'm sure I even have quite a number of memes that he forwarded to me that I have yet to see. I just gradually stopped responding. And I do have a good reason — it's for the best.
And Shiv is one of the reasons I was putting off, coming back home for the break. He doesn't know that yet, and I hope he never knows.
Me:–
I'm sorry
Shiv:–
Really, I have to find from a third person you're back?
What is even going on with you?
Me:–
Nothing
Shiv:–
Yeah, I believe you 🙄
How long are you back for?
Me:–
Two weeks
Shiv:–
Okay. We're going out tomorrow
Me:–
I'm working at my appa's shop though
Shiv:–
Since when are you guys talking?
Me:–
