CHAPTER 26 — IT'S NICE TO BE KNOWN
I force out a chuckle and self-preservatively take a few steps back, "Oh no, no, no. I don't– I don't dance,"
However, Abby is not in listening mood anymore. They start dancing and simultaneously moving towards me. I would have escaped from the situation if not for Sri who has strategically stood behind me to keep me from running away.
"Sri, come on," I plead him but he just shrugs playfully and starts dancing as well.
A couple of other friends of theirs join in as well and I have no choice but to throw in a little movements. I keep my head down and grit my teeth together. I am supposed to be sleeping right now. Not be in an unknown party with unknown people being idiotic.
I let out a deep breath before looking up and plaster a smile on my face. Five minutes and then I'm getting the hell out of here.
As intended, I slowly start sidestepping, fully ready to disappear without telling anyone but somehow Sri spots and catches me mid-action.
"Where you going?" he asks me.
"Um, to the toilet?"
"Is that a question?"
I shake my head.
He looks at me for a moment, and then extends his hand, "Come with me,"
I look at his hand and then at him, "Where?"
He chuckles and grabs my hand instead of waiting for me, "Just follow me,"
One good thing comes from this as he leads me to the door as I was planning to do anyways.
He stops walking suddenly and turns to me, "Do you really need to go to the toilet?"
No use lying now, so I shake my head.
He grins, "Figures," and then continues to walk, pulling me along with him until we reach the end of the corridor.
There's another door there and he opens it and we go through. He's brought me to the balcony at the end of the corridor. There's a balcony at the end of the corridor on every floor. And I am aware of what it's most used for. I steal a glance towards Sri — I don't get why he's brought me here. Shouldn't he have brought Abby instead?
Thankfully he lets go of my hand at last.
And I discreetly move away from him as much as I can (which is not that far away really, being on a balcony and all), rubbing my arms up and down.
Sri leans against the railing and crosses his arms and waits patiently until I look at him to speak his first words.
"How are you, Aarvin?"
Did he bring me here just to be cordial?
"I'm good," I reply, and then return the courtesy, "How are you?"
"You tell me," he angles his body towards my direction.
The fuck is that even supposed to mean. I squint my eyes at him in confusion.
He waves his hand up and down at himself, "How do I look?"
That is so stupid but that doesn't mean it didn't stir up a reaction in me. I ignore the warmth that I feel slowly spreading up my neck and the smile tugging at the edge of my lips, and roll my eyes.
